Finding You (2021)

Not that strange in Ireland, especially as the B&B is run by her aunt and they’re just teenagers. She’s her niece after all, it would be natural for her to watch out for her in that way

Oh, I forgot they were related! Not sure about the “just teenagers” part though. 18 is a teenager, but old enough to decide who you have sex with. Your man must be at least 18 since he is no longer required to attend “school” on set.

Also, “not that strange in Ireland?” Come on, it’s not 1985, if they weren’t related that would be a bizarre thing for a B&B owner to tell a guest.

How old are these characters supposed to be? Imagine goin to a B&B and they tell you you’re not allowed ride the film star who is apparently their only guest, the cheek of them.

The Tomorrow War (2021)

I’m sure they DID research (and make) better weapons, and a better way to kill ‘em and into making a time machine, and as many guns and bullets as possible. But bigger guns (and all that bigger ammo) than assault rifles for all those soldiers to carry are heavy.

They had known for 30 yrs that they’d eventually build a time machine (and hopefully a better way to kill ‘em) but it took them 30 yrs to figure out how.

They knew (by looking at their future histories) the old guys they sent were less useful in the past for breeding, etc. And Pratt was specifically sent for by Yvonne.

Omg no they literally say in the movie they can only send you to the future if you’re dead by then, to avoid paradoxes

The Handmaid's Tale (2017) S4 E10

When this first started out I sympathized with the main character and felt horrible for all that she was going through even really angry but at some point her thirst for revenge turned me against her and I was hoping she get killed off or something lol. I would never be for treating a woman like that ever but there’s a reason we have laws and a reason why we don’t have vigilantes. Glad this is just a TV show and not real life. It got to a point where I really didn’t want to watch the series any more but I liked some of the other characters and wanted to see what happened to them so I kept watching. Wonder what next season is going to be about? I have a few ideas.

I think one of the things the story is trying to show is how being brutalised can make people more brutal, whether it’s through being caught in a war, or being in prison, or whatever. June has always had a certain selfishness (her husband was married, and her feminist mother tried to teach her that it was important for women to work together as a collective, but she went for a career in publishing and wasn’t particularly feminist) and you could argue that this self-interest helps her to survive Gilead. But she wasn’t a violent or hateful person, before they literally enslaved her.

I’m pulling for Janine too lol. She’s been through so much and I would love to see more of her story. As for June, any actor or actress that can make you love or hate their character is doing a great job of it. ;)

I don’t want to disappoint you but aunt Lydia is in the sequel to the book, which is set like 15 years later, so I don’t think anyone’s going to be killing her off

This show isn’t for the faint of heart. Also if you like to see big explosions this probably isn’t for you. It’s slow and amazing but also nerve wrecking and emotionally crushing. There’s alot of “WTF” did i just watch moments that leaves you petrified if not emotionally scarred. After much cajoling and convincing my girlfriend to give it a try, she still couldn’t survive beyond episode 2 of season 1. I found new appreciation for freedom of choice as a woman after watching this.

I know this is fictional and it happens in a dystopian society but if given the conditions and our reality does present the same problems there would be people who would actively advocate for the implementation of the same solutions as Gilead did.
Giving this show 5/5 rating doesn’t even come close to what it truly deserves.

It’s only technically fictional in the sense that it hasn’t happened exactly like it’s portrayed; everything in it has happened somewhere, and not only could it easily happen in America, most of it already has

Interesting dystopian future that could possibly happen. Very well written storyline and decent acting. 4/5

Red Sky 4 points 2 months ago.

I haven’t seen all the show but in the book - basically the first season - Atwood took care to build the whole history of gilead only using things that had actually happened. A lot of them happened in America

Like, this is not a great show at all, but I don’t think it’s his fault
