I think this is probably my favorite Coen brother film, it has every ingredient that makes their films so fantastic; realism, humour and a great script. It's about a very stressed out and hard working fella who is having financial troubles, he comes up with a plot to kidnap his wife who has a rich daddy that can afford to pay a large ransom. The story is told from 3 perspectives; The husband, the kidnappers and the cop who is investigating. The story has some wonderfully dark humour that you could call a lil bit twisted but it's all the better for it and the directing and cinematography really are beautiful, they capture the loneliness and desolation of the area during winter excellently. If you have seen other Cohen brother films you will love it, if you haven't but appreciate a great story as oppose to pointless explosions and action sequences look no further, this is honestly the film for you, but i would also say it does have enough excitement,a superb story and some blood for even your most ardent action junky. I would go as far to say this film is in my top 10 films of all-time. 10/10 for this masterpiece, but of course this is all just my personal opinion so watch it and judge for yourselves.

William H Macy and Frances McDormand, doesn't get any better than this. One of my fave movies of all time. Worth it just for the accents, lol.

My personal favourite Coen Brothers movie is The Big Lebowski, but I have to concede that this is probably their best. As with so many of their stories it is a tale of far reaching, unforeseen consequences. A really outstanding movie.

Probably the best black comedy of all time. I imagine with the new TV series a lot of new people will be introduced to this amazing film. Excellent cast, crazy story, and a heck of a ride. 10/10 woodchippers.

Okay I could just watch a film that followed Peter Stormare & Steve Buscemi's characters around all day. I loved their portrayal of the characters and I thought they were an excellent team up! Yet again the Coen Brothers bring another great film to life:D Did anyone else notice that they used a black satchel full of money in this movie and in No Country For Old Men? I liked the fact they did that just like how Quentin Tarantino used the black suitcase in Reservoir Dogs and in Pulp Fiction. 7.2/10

once you notice how much they all say "yaaah" it cannot be unheard anymore. it's like the "forget about it" in Donnie Brasco

Pardon me, but jeeze, that movie was a rollercoaster. It's got a great comedic element to it, but I feel pretty horrible about it too.

It's just amazing how the Coen brothers can turn a simple story into something so good it grabs your attention all the way through.

A great American classic by the Coen Brothers. The characters are interesting and thought provoking. Great acting especially by Frances McDormand. It's very well written and full of twists. The cinematography and music are brilliant. Worth a watch... 8/10
