Was looking for a thriller I hadn't seen and I found an absolute delight. Hitchcock films are among my favourite to explore and the acting was brilliant all around 4/5

I always knew that a merry-go-round is an attraction of pure terror and fright.

One of the best of Hitchcock's, could and do watch it over and over! If you haven't seen it give it a shot.

Raymond Chandler gets the writer's credit. In fact, tho' he was hired, and paid, to write the script, and did, he and Hitchcock disagreed so completely on the plot that in the end Hitch got someone else to do the script he wanted. But Warner Bros. figured they'd paid to have Chandler's name on the credits and they'd have it anyway. Basically, Chandler felt he had a duty of 'integrity' to the characters, the author Patricia Highsmith, and to verisimilitude. Hitch, on the other hand, just wanted a series of gimmicks which would have an effect on an audience and didn't give a damn whether the story made any kind of sense or not.

I thought the performances in this were brilliant. Probably one of my favorite Hitchcock films! I love how his films can be incredibly frightening despite the fact that almost nothing happens. The plot was extremely simple, especially by todays standards, yet Hitchcock made it seem complex. I really, really enjoyed this film. It kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. I give it 5/5.
