It is impossible to explain nor to underestimate this film's impact on horror films. It created the zombie genre and broke many movie taboos doing so. I am old enough to remember when it was released and the uproar caused by its graphic scenes of cannibalism. About how STRANGE it was to see a Black man portrayed as intelligent, caring and as a natural leader. And the ending, drenched in irony, killed off the Happy Ending forever. A classic in every sense of the word. 9 / 10

This is one of the first Horror movies ever filmed with sound added to it..I am really not into the hole Zoombie thing, but I respect this one, cause Horror had 2 start from somewhere..Like way back when the Wizzard of oz was filmed, first it was in black&white then technacolor came along, and put color two alot of the old movies..well on a scale of 1-10 this is a 8...cause it helped launch horror.

Its a cult classic, therefore, do not expect a magnificent story with incredible suspense and chills. Its a must watch for any zombie lovin' creep out there.

Besides being the godfather of zombie movies, and a great one at that, I think this is actually a great movie in general. The acting, camera work, script, editing, pretty much everything is top notch which is amazing for such a low-budget film. Nothing camp about it - even by today's standards. Even gets an appropriate laugh or two ("Yeah they're dead - they're... all messed up."), and a shocker of an ending. This was the first full-length feature I bought back in the day on Super8mm film. I'd show the movie in our back yard which was extra creepy as we lived next to the graveyard. Good times.

A true classic and the start of a genre! A really well made movie for its budget If you haven't seen it and you like this genre or even if you just like film history, you should give it a whirl.

They're coming to get you, Barbara... (shiver) I always come back to this one at Halloween. It's the very definition of classic horror flick. The characters are easy to identify with, the situation just real enough to creep into your brain. This one doesn't settle for cheap shock and gore. It's also the mother of all zombie movies but doesn't even have the word 'zombie' in it once. 5/5

What an Amazing Film!" First the zombies were amazing for its time, second it is the grandfather of all the Zombie flicks and Third George.A Romero. Every Zombie fan knows George.A Romero, is the best director for Zombie flicks. Dawn of the dead 5/5 Night of the living dead 10/5 Day of the dead 5/5. All from the king of the zombies Mr Romero. Even for this film dated so long ago yet lives up to its "Rep" Of todays zombie films. I liked this the same as the remake which is strange because the classics are always better. Remake and Original 10/5 LOVED IT.

This was for me better than the original Night. Barbara is a terrific zombie killer.
