I was in the Marine Corps from 1989-1995. This movie is very close to bootcamp. We had 3 to 4 drill instructors with a Senior Drill Instructor. I love the bootcamp scenesbecause I relate to them.10/10

The boot camp scene reminded me of my service days, was in the corps (specialist sniper), in the kate 70s. A classic flick

Great movie, I could watch it once a month and not get tired of it. The drill instructor in the boot camp portion of the movie is hardcore, but funny at the same time. A lot of people out there don't think the 2nd half of this movie is as good as the 1st. I disagree, I like the whole thing equally the same from beginning to end. Check it out if you haven't yet. 9/10

First time watching this, really enjoyed it. Vincent D'Onofrio is great in this, you feel for him & the journey he goes through. The film is basically split up into two portions: Boot Camp & War. It's the Vietnam war, you don't need to know the history to enjoy it, but it's good to know what was going on in the world. Good characters, good deliveries, tone was set very well. 4.5/5

Not seen this in a long time. It still has the same effect on me as the first time I saw it. An epic story of a journey through training and battle in the Vietnam war. A must see if you haven't already, and worth re-watching! 5/5!!!

The first half takes you inside the Marine Corps boot camp experience (at least the Vietnam-era boot camp). The second half sees those recruits off to war. A powerful commentary on the human condition that is neither preachy nor glorifies war. 10/10

Gunnery Sergeant Hartman: Today... is Christmas! There will be a magic show at zero-nine-thirty! Chaplain Charlie will tell you about how the free world will conquer Communism with the aid of God and a few Marines! God has a hard-on for Marines because we kill everything we see! He plays His games, we play ours! To show our appreciation for so much power, we keep heaven packed with fresh souls! God was here before the Marine Corps! So you can give your heart to Jesus, but your ass belongs to the Corps! Do you ladies understand?
