Even if you don't like classical music, or movies during the classical era of Vienna, this is still an excellent biographical drama (even if not 100% accurate), and a legendary performance by Tom Hulce.

Exquisitely done period piece. There are two versions: a PG and an R-rated Director's Cut. Make sure that you are watching the latter ;) 10/10

I remember my music teacher showing this to the class when I was in grade 4 and I was the only one who payed attention to it and LOVED it .... I remember asking my teacher to stay after class so we could talk about it. She did enthusiastically because I was a young student interested in it. I had forgotten the title and had spent the last 10 years trying to figure it out! FINALLY found it, and once again, Loved it as much, if not MORE than when the last time I saw it when I was 9! Easily one of my favorite movies that NEEDS to be seen!

One of the best lines ever. "There are too many notes."

Wow. That was an extremely good film! The performances were fantastic! The music was great as well. Well deserved the Oscar for best picture. It was actually pretty entertaining as well, which is, in my opinion, sort of un-common in this type of film. A must see! Absolutely magnificent!

Historically inaccurate it may be, it's still an excellent movie for lovers of classical music and period pieces. A wonderful film.

This movie is surely something. I hated Mozart's wife.

it was indeed brilliant and captivating. the characters were all well played by the actors, they all gave such amazing, realistic performances. i love them. not one of the character here was a saint, each one of them have their own flaw and it made them very human. Mozart seemed to me when we were talking about him and his works back in the classroom, seemed like he was larger than life but here he was just another person with the unique talent direct from the hand of God. I felt so sorry for Salieri, that is all i could say, i feel so sorry for him, all of his life was bitterness and sorrow. this being a movie that is made three decades ago, i got to say that it was indeed wonderfully made, the music is just so -! i dont have any word for it but EPIC :D but i also find myself wanting to drift into sleep in some periods of the movie so 9.3/10

My all time favorite movie. I own it on dvd and have watched it so many times. I rememver wat hing this for the first time in music class in elementary school. Back then, most of the sexual references went right over my head, but this movie started my love of all things from the 18th century.
