This is a great movie. I don't know if you'd label it a Blaxploitation film or not. I am not that much of a knowledgeable about the genres of movie. I do not think so though because it is loosely based on the real life stories of many Negro-League ball players and characters. I remember this movie from my childhood. I saw it in a drive-in, in New Albany Indiana. My all time faves are James earl Jones & Richard Pryor. I knew Richard Pryor was hilarious because we'd been listening to his comedy growing up. I've loved every movie that man made. This movie may seem corny by today's standards, but if you like it, don't miss out on The Toy, Jo Jo Dancer, Your Life Is Calling, Car Wash, Brewsters Millions, In God We Tru$t, Holy Moses, Harlem Nights but to name a few. These were movies that defined a Generation.
