such a score/soundtrack from the start to finish, what a battling rain, quite funny fight scenes, that woman knows how to cry, the laughs, perception of humans from different minds, perspectives of life...a simple story..all this with only 7 protagonists/characters (not including the last one) throughout the entire film., no fakes just real actors...not mentioning the filming style of AK directly in sunlight (copied by other directors after)...creating such a masterpiece...AK was one of a kind...

Was not sure what to expect coming into this but it was really great. So heartbreaking at the end. Really really great. Will watch more of Kurosawa. 9/10

Ground breaking film. This has been and is the foundation of many films and series that deal with different perspectives. This film is captivating from character work to life philosophy. Wonderful!

Beautiful indeed. Much more entertaining then the 7 Samurais. I further recommend "Yojimbo" and "The hidden fortress" by Akira Kurosawa from what little I know. Ran may also be great if you can prefer magnificent pictures over disport. But judge for yourself. It definitley is worth a try. Movies like this can not be found easily.

Deservedly classic. Beautiful cinematography. One of the best, most realistic, and funniest fight scenes ever.

Excellent Akira Kurosawa film. If you enjoyed this one, watch Stray Dog. Sort of a obscure AK movie, but definitely worth a look.

had to watch this in class. liked it, though its very exhausting to watch. There are many many really long scenes, without cuts or change of view and without any action. Like a man goes trough the wood, for about five minutes and all you see is trees and this one man. But it's an interesting movie and definitely worth a watch!

Reviews have been penned about this film for sixty years, so I'm stunned there is not at least one comment on this site yet. Suffice it to say, this is a quintessential, brilliant Japanese Classic that everyone needs to see. Modern movie fans may not fully appreciate the intricate pacing, subtly, and subconscious ques employed by Kurosawa, but missing out on this piece of cinematic history would be a real loss.
