I had the whistling tune stuck in my head forever after watching this! A truly great film. Acting and plot were both brilliant! A fantastic WWII film. I enjoyed it very much, it was highly interesting and kept my attention most of the time. A must see! 5/5.

A good strong movie from beginning to end. "they don't make them like they used to" is a thing that comes to mind ^^.

a masterpiece...some great sets...a lot of scenes shot near my village in sri lanka..the bridge stumps still stand where they made the enormous bridge fit enough to bear a train 10/10

Movie known for his capturing of natural sceneries, scenes and voices. Though having some conflicts with the real novel, but great acting and leadrship qualities shown by Alec Guiness make this movie, really big one. 9/10
