Top notch crime drama, subtly noir rather than hit-you-over-the-head noir. The great thing about this is all the cast are actually 'acting', the dialogue is not just meant to reveal the plot, but also to build multidimensional characters - characters whose motives adapt and react to a changing environment. Every detail of even the most minor player is thoughtfully woven, absolutely brilliant. The editing of this film (such an underrated aspect) is perfect, each scene matters. Symbolism, imagery, foreshadowing - are blended into the set, into the dialogue, and into the plot seamlessly and nothing is forced or out of place. All the characters are human and their flaws are revealed, yet in such a way that makes them stronger, more appealing and believable. 10/10

What a classic film. It has everything from a great story to brilliant acting from the whole cast. This is probably the best film of the 90s.

Great movie, the only problem I had with it was that they both didn`t get awarded medals in the end. Kevin Spacey played it perfect. 9/10

Utterly, Butterly, Brilliant! A film that people should hopefully remember alongside other classics as "one flew over the coocoo's nest" or "scarface"... 10 out of 10

L.A. Confidential is, without a doubt, the best film of the 1990s, and quite possibly one of the best films ever made..

I haven't seen this movie since it was in the theater, and I had forgotten just how good it is. The acting is incredible, the directing impeccable, and I think the story is plausible. It makes me want to go and watch CHINATOWN all over again, which is next on my list. This is definitely a 10/10 movie for me and I recommend it to anyone who is serious about movies and not just a bunch of 'fluff' that often happens these days.

A brilliant drama with superb acting. Russell Crowe, Guy Pearce, and Kevin Spacey are phenomenal. Kim Basinger, James Cromwell, David Strathairn, and Danny DeVito all have their moments as well. The directing is fantastic, the music is perfect and the cinematography is great. A clever script dealing with the seamy side of Los Angeles in the post-World War II 1950s. Los Angeles is a place of shady dealings and police corruption. Worth a watch... 10/10
