I think a lot of people who say this is boring don't look at it the same as I did. I was glued to the screen and all my favorite scenes come more from the psychological terror and subtext than anything else. When they get to the outpost after do lung bridge and it is a mess with a CO that has been dead for months, in terrible shape, and the kid soldiers are running around acting insane because it basically looks like they've been abandoned that far up river by the military. I remember a kid barking at Willard in that scene. And even the playmates are stranded and trade sex for fuel.. and in that scene where both playmates are talking about their interests and feelings while the soldiers just want their bodies. It was one of the most disturbing in the film. Shit like that gets me good. And lo dung bridge with this vision of hell, the people in the water like the river styx calling out that the boats crew is already dead and no one at the outpost knowing what is even going on, they just knew terror and constant fear on the frontline. Forced to rebuild a bridge everyday to have it destroyed by the VC every night like many a myth of hell and punishment. Gnarly stuff lol

One of the greatest movies ever made. Yes, people with short attention spans might not be able to appreciate this film's greatness. This movie has plenty of action in it, but it seems some people need non-stop explosions, shoot-outs, and other petty ploys to keep them interested. If you like GREAT movies and haven't seen this one yet, stop what you're doing and watch this film. You'll never forget this epic journey through the jungle. The acting in this movie, well, not much to say about it except the fact that its SUPERB. The storyline is excellent, there was suspense, dread, and shock. Let's talk about special effects, the SFX is this film were incredible. The helicopter/napalm scene, along with the rest of the film, would have been ruined by today's Hollywood and their insatiable need to use CGI. The SFX in this film were perfect. The dialogue is legendary, top-notch acting, awesome storyline, one of the greatest movies ever made. 10/10

Really wonderful movie. One of the best war movies. I thought it was going to be completely different from this though. The acting was amazing. This is a classic! Worth a watch.

Holy smokes! This movie put me in a state of altered consciousness. Thought I'd gone mad by the end. One of the most powerful piece of art that uses film as a medium.

One of the best movies of all time. Although they REALLY should have credited Joseph Conrad, because they clearly took the exact plot and characters of Heart of Darkness, only they plopped it down in the middle of the Vietnam War rather than the Congo in the 19th century (which actually works surprisingly well).

I am still struggling to find the deeper meaning in what Marlon Brando had to say at the end of this movie...i mean, i understood the words, i know what he said, i understand what he meant by 'the horror', but there is something more to it, i just can't put my finger on it...either way, this movie represents a swirling vortex going down into the depths of human emotion, human frailty, and what experiencing TRUE horror can do to a man...and this movie did that very very well. The further up the river they went, the deeper they delved into the human psyche after experiencing the worst War has to offer. I loved that. 10/10 absolutley, not your typical Vietnam war movie..this is better..if you really want to experience, i mean REALLY experience what these men endured without actually being there, this movie will do that for you.

Joseph Conrad, you are a legend. This movie is great. I also suggest anyone who is interested in literature to pick up Heart of Darkness.
