such a classic film with so many amazing parts and performances...10/10 stars...p.s. hellsayer..in that case you might have to go and kill any man that's ever had a daughter...but after that it'll be hard for you to get dates lol...besides at the end if i remember it correctly he knew he was facing death just as he knew that the girl wouldn't leave unless she believed that he would make it out...he told her what she needed to hear in order to save her life..at least thats the way i see it

When I was working at the video store, this was a movie I would come across again and again...thinking, Oh, I should watch this. This looks so good. Here's that movie again. And for one reason or another, I would always watch something else. I guess today was the day. I'm so glad. Better late than never. A classic and a new favorite!

This film, better known in the U.S. as "The Professional", is a wonderful and intense film. Jean Reno plays his role as a "cleaner" with incredible subtlety. Leon tries to keep his emotions completely suppressed, yet Matilda (in an extraordinary performance by a young Natalie Portman, who is destined to become a very powerful actress into her adult life) bring out in him a new-found joy for life that accompanies his growing paternal instincts. But, the most dynamic element of this film is undeniably Gary Oldman's performance as a wildly sadistic and crooked DEA agent with his own narcotic-induced demons. His obsessions eventually lead him to the brink of absolute madness in his hunt for the cleaner. Truly, this is Oldman's finest performance to date, worthy of Oscar glory, though sadly forgotten. And so, Luc Besson did indeed top his triumph of "La Femme Nikita" by far with this masterpiece. Though, I cannot exactly praise his most recent effort with the sci-fi misfire, "The Fifth Element." 8.6/10 Stars

"Stop saying okay all the time, okay!?" "Okay" lol She really does say "okay" an extraordinary amount of times in this movie...but that line, coupled with how they said the lines, made me laugh. I thought this was a beautiful movie; it made me sad to see how alone and cut off from world Leon was, and it made me sad to see the messed up life that Matilda had also. Maybe I'm just a softie, but I cried the first time I watched this, and this time was no different. I rate it a 5/5 for being one of the best assassin movies I have ever seen.

I watched this the first time when I was eight... and 14 years later, I've probably watched it 10 more times. One of a kind, simply the best.

Amazing film. First saw this back when I was 12 I think and it was just amazing! Hell still is amazing! Luc Besson at his best. The acting was just perfect! Oldman stole the show for sure here! Portman and Reno had some great chemistry! The editing and pacing was top notch, didnt lag in any part of the film. This is one of those movies where you sit down and 2hrs go by in a flash! I cant say more good things about it, just watch it if you havent seen it yet!
