A delicious combination of Italian and American western film making. The music courts you throughout and leads you just where the director wants you. Jason Robards is an original actor in this film and others, as well as Charles Bronson however one might say significantly less talented. This spaghetti concoction is a nice bowl of entertainment.

Like Guys I really can't believe that someone complaining about this Great Classic. To me it's the BEST WESTERN ever made with the best movie Soundtrack!! Charles Bronson whom I really like but not the Greatest Actor even he did great although he didn't have many long lines.Claudia Cardinale is as beautiful as anyone ever been! Jane Fonda said about her father's role in this, that as kids her and Peter it was terrible to see their Dad killing a little boy because he(Henry)was such a nice person in life. Please if you're younger just give this one a chance(more than 20minutes) and you\ll be happy that u did 5/5 THankx Peace

Sergio Leone's greatest tribute to the Western genre, Once Upon a Time in the West is a piquant cocktail of style and substance, potent enough to catapult the viewer into a whirlpool of incessant excitement.

I saw this movie for the first time back when I was 6 years old and I LOVED IT. Yes this came out before my time but my parents owned the VHS of it and now that I am much older I am 32 and I understand this even better today then I did back then (I was 6). This one is now my MOST Favorite western movie EVER. Yes it is slow but I don't mind that as long as the story is at least decent and the acting is good and this movie DE-LI-VERE D with the story and acting. For me personally Bronson is a good actor because he's done some great movies and he's done some not so great and I would say this movie was one of his best performances that he has ever done, he was actually amazing in this along with the other actors and actresses 5/5

This is the western movie for Opera fans. It's mature and I would not have liked this when I was younger. Go watch Young Guns if you want action and easy laughs. OUTW is not about action, it's about slow boiling emotion and also a tribute to a stylized vision of how The West developed, through the eyes of an Italian director. Claudia Cardinale has to be one the top four beauties in Cinema with Vivien Leigh, Elizabeth Taylor and Julie Christie. She is drop dead gorgeous. Peter Fonda, Bronson, Jason Robards. So much to like. The ending of this movie is one of the most epic and heartfelt endings in all films, completely embracing the price of growth and loss.

It was a very slow film but good enough for me to see through to the end i liked the conclusion also, I thought some of the dialogue was a bit too dumb and simple, Thankfully though, The acting here is really good so it's not much of a big deal to me. Personally this wouldn't make it into my top ten westerns but it's another one for the collection. 4/5

Fonda made a surprisingly menacing baddie, while Bronson was coolness personified; I enjoyed both their performances. All the Spanish horses were very nice. Besides that, I have to say...that was the slowest movie I. Have. Ever. Seen... Ever.

Dont understand this movie, had to take 3 tries at this movie before I could finish watching it. Fell asleep the first couple of times. Aside from the opening scene it was actors acting badass and not being badass. As for the rest of the movie its story was incoherent and all over the place and it used dramatic scenes and moments as a crutch to move this movie along. The harmonica recording was over produced and sounded to fabricated to the point of annoyance. The dialog was just too lazy. The potential of the story was great just the direction dialog really sold this movie short. Come to think of it, this movie was missing alot of heart. This movie relied more on stylized filming (of the 60's) than style in storytelling or direction. Its sorta like some terrible 3D movies nowadays, it relies heavily on effects and doesnt care about important things like story, character, direction and heart. But, to a kid growing up with it, he wont care and will still love the terrible 3D movie until the end of time even though its terrible.

Amazing film, probaly Leone's finest piece of work. The opening scene where they are waiting for the train and there is no soundtrack, no music only the sound of wind and the characters, genius...
