I don't even care for Westerns but I liked this one a lot. Great cast and unpredictable story. Ed Harris and Viggo Mortensen are such a cool team together. They could say so much without saying a word.

Liked it. Didn't like all the characters, but they were well done. (I don't think we were 'suppose' to like someone). Good western though. 8/10

What Piquerish said! I watched this originally because it was Ed Harris and Viggo Mortensen AND a western and it instantly became one of my favorite cowboy movies. A couple years later, I read the book because I thought that, as is usually the case, the book would be "better" than the movie. It was like re-watching the movie come to life through words. Hands down the best screenplay adaptation of a novel that I have ever seen/read. Once you've seen the movie, there's no need to read the book (but do it anyway). Renee Zelwegger and Jeremy Irons were awesome but a special shoutout goes to Lance Henricksen, one of the most underrated actors of my generation.

What a stellar cast! What a great story! Every once in a while, the old stalwart western is just what is needed and Appaloosa does it for me. Renee Zellweger can do with a facial expression what others need a script to do. I think she was Sterling in her role as a flighty, mercurial fem fatale. Harris seems to have done everything in Appaloosa but the laundry and cooking. Well scripted, beautifully shot, solidly acted and produced. Well done. Five of five stars from me and unreserved recommendations.

I have alwayz admired Ed Harris's acting in a good role bt i didn't know he could direct a movie this good. Very good story centered on his n Viggo Mortensen's relationship,Virgil Cole character n hw they uphold the law. It isn't a groundbreaking western bt one tat's worth watching a few times.

Pretty alright Western. I was never bored with it. I do have one question though. WHY is it that men always go for the "take ya for what ya got, go for your friends and anyone else needy and somehow still see her as innocent even thought that's IMPOSSIBLE TYPE!!?" SOMEONE PLEASE ANSWER THIS!! Anyway 3/5.

This movie makes you wonder what direction they wanted to take, but none of it comes to a satisfactory conclusion. That said, it is still a nice movie with a genuine western feel to it and the performances of the actors are good enough, so I'll give it 7/10.
