Brilliant movie. Simple plot, but still incredibly entertaining, and presented in such a unique way! Bob Hoskins was great, as usual. Nice dialogue. Well worth seeing!

I remember watching this film a few years back.......what a film!!! Bob Hoskins.....What an actor!!!. I couldn't believe it when they used my secondary school as a back drop in the film even tho it was a few years before i went there made it all the more pleasurable to watch. I liked the story line, defiantly worth watching a least once in your life 8/10 for me

Bob Hoskins deserved the Academy Award in 1986, for his outstanding, formidable performance in Mona Lisa. Paul Newmans nomination itself was more a pre-acknowlegment than a fair acting reward, and his performance was not even close to Bob Hoskins. He had been much better in The Hustler or The Verdict. In my opinion, Bob Hoskins was robbed.
