Not sure what it says about me, but I loved this movie. I may be in need of therapy.

It's impossible to believe that level of sex was such a part of the period (I've read enough novels from the time to have an idea). Liked the plot and it gets more beautiful towards the end :)

Ah 'The Earl of Rochester', I'm sure this movie only brushes with his debauchery. Lol! Good film...

I thought this was very well done. Much better than similar period pieces like "Goya's Flowers" or "Quills" - I thought that the actors all did a magnificent job with appropriate pacing. The one interesting thing that I noticed here that is usually not done was the literally-dirty manner that everyone was portrayed, from the whores to the nobility - everyone was a bit filthy, as one would expect in 17th century England.

Deep is good as usual, but the movie is very slow, and I was a bit dissapointed at the end. 7/10

Unlike most other reviews, I didn't enjoy this film. It had me interested initially, but as it moved on I just couldn't get into it. It's too bad, Depp in a period piece is usually an awesome combo, (From Hell, Sleepy Hollow, Pirates), but this one just didn't do it for me.

This is some deep stuff once you get past snickering at the blatant sexual content. Had to rewind a few times cause John's talking so low.

Another great Johnny Depp movie as lead role. He is one of the finest actors, along with John Malkovich! This was a very interesting story and most people I've recommended it too, like it also. It's not my favorite Johnny Depp movie, but he is so versatile; I love his depth and range of characters he can play. Good movie, good acting, good story...This is worth the watch. Enjoy!

A film deeper than it's subject matter would have you suppose. Not one for those that have limited emotional capacities.

This to me is Depps coup de grace, opus magnum...he pulls off the sexiest, shrewdest, meanest and most pitiable, but beloved, character. 5/5

I'm not understanding the low scores of this movie. It was enthralling, intoxicating and artistically magnificent. Cannot believe I didn't see it before now. Beautiful. If you are even slightly prudish, do not watch. Just say no. ★☆★☆★

Very twisted. And very sad. But Johnny Depp played an amazing part in this film. Cheers!

Wasn't really sure if to watch this or not as one of the main reasons for me watching this was for Tom Hollander. But I'm glad I did watch this good period drama very long winded movie.

on Johnny Depp could play such a role of evil lust and a poet.
