A visually stunning film with strong performances and a great plot. Despite the length, it did not feel dragged out in the least. It had a nice pace. Excellent character development as well. The action scenes will keep you on the edge of your seat. This is a definite must see.

I usually don't like boating or sub movies, but this is by far the best. 5/5

The ending was a bit difficult to understand but I think I got it. Interesting movie all the way through, some funny parts, good action. Loved the music. Good story!

This film is magnificent. I was always hesitant to start this because it has the impression of a slow meandering narrative, yet right off the bat the movie is exciting and powerful. There is so much nuance about seamanship and naval warfare that anyone interested in the subjects should make this a required watch. Also, the details in the production design appear so authentic, there is an unmistakeable quality about it like a fine brandy I lack the understanding to describe.

An extremely impressive film, showing what life would ave been like to be a sailor, as well as an insight into the hard decisions the commander of a war ship would have to make. It's a clever film with good acting and a great soundtrack. 5/5

Russel Crowe is badass. I got to love period movies, especially with such good scenarios.

One of my favorite movies ever. As a biology nerd, I loved the nod to the scientific spirit of exploration at that historical time, in the character of the doctor. The very realistic depicition of naval life and naval battles was outstanding. The film score was also excellent, so much so that I bought the soundtrack; something I've ever done for one other movie (Frida). This isn't so much of an action movie than a drama/adventure movie with some strong action scenes. Really, really good.
