This was actually a good movie, I liked the part with the babysitter "you're cruising for a bruising pal!" my reply as a child would have been "well you're cruising for a popped cherry and I'm going to marinate your pretty little chocolate starfish with my tongue for so long that I'm going to know what you ate for breakfast, lunch and dinner...last week". Guess that's why I only ever had one babysitter as a child :-)

How awesome was that?! There were snippets of all kinds of 1950s SciFi movie classics in there! The Blob (1958), It Came from Outer Space (1953), The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951)... The attention and detail that was put into this, to make it look and feel like a 50s classic, is truly remarkable. This is not a 'B' film or a (intentional) comedy. It's a serious and successful attempt at recreating a 1950s era SciFi movie. At their hey-day, these movies were very sensationalized. The whole craze basically got started with the Roswell crash in July 7, 1947. Great casting, acting, directing, set-design and production values. 5/5 stars.

This was actually good!.. Love how the whole theme of the movie was set in the 50's and had the feel of a 50's horror Sci-Fi. Brilliant; The story, the acting and the atmosphere of this movie.

Grade A genre fare. If you enjoy Cold War era B-movies and sci-fi flicks like "Forbidden Planet", "Them", "The Blob" or "Attack of a 50 Foot Woman", and modern genre classics like "The X-Files", you will love this movie. It's set in a classic '50s-style town in the middle of nowhere up in the mountains/close to the desert. The color palette is modeled on the classic '50s colors scheme (lots of pastels, pink, turquoise, yellow, light blue, orange and red). Backgrounds are styled with the '50s green screen effect (backgrounds are inserted into the frame, eg. when a character is driving a car). The monster looks like it was taken straight out of a Roger Corman movie (it's a giant one-eyed flower with a tentacle thingy). It even has two nods to the "X-Files" (the director and Robert Patrick, who played Agent Doggett in the last 2 seasons). Plus, it has Dan Lauria, the dad from "Wonder Years." Definitely one of my favourite genre tributes in recent years. An enjoyable way to spend an hour and a half.

A good movie created in the style of the great 1950s B movie "horror" genre. Watch it for what it is, not what you think it -should- be. 4/5

Put together all the important parts of a 50s B movie - flying saucers, monsters from outer space, snarky teenagers, rubbish special effects and some really bad acting. This film could only be made better by watching it in the car and pretending you're at the drive-in. 9/10 because it made me want to see it again! Don't forget the popcorn!
