The Hurt Locker is a serious character study and a taut, suspenseful action thriller at once. The subject matter itself - the work of a bomb expert, possibly one of the most nerve-racking jobs on the planet - yields most of the suspense but Bigelow manages to squeeze out every bit of tension of the premise. All aspects of film-making are top-notch, from the brilliantly subversive screenplay through vivid cinematography, masterful directing and perfectly paced editing.

Hay " Mizbestupid " like steph said,if it wasnt for us military "I was proud to be in " wasnt their, dont you think Alkaida would grow to the point of no return,so before you go talking shit about the U.S Military, look around your neighborhood,do you not live in peace?? now just imagine a bomb landing in your living room, did you forget 9/11 that was just a taste of what goes on over their everyday,so shut your trap, and be thankful your ass isn't their protecting the world from terrorists,so think before you say we shouldn't be their, that's my point ,and had to say that to all us military men and woman..I also really liked the movie,on a scale of 1-10 i give this a 9..

The entire movie seems to be done with a hand held shaky cam.. i really don't like those types. This one wasn't all bad... I guess just not my style. But i sure am thankful for our troops!

ppl reading hese comment r probably thinking this is going to be one of the best war movies thy have seen.. well its not going to be.. eventho this is a dam good movie about wats going on in iraq, its nothing like SAVING PRIVATE RYAN. this is a big budge blow them up story, this is more kind of a slow pace documentation, no real story line just a hard look into what life is like in iraq for a good men.

(stagevu) Great Quality! What an outstanding movie!! This movie can really make you appreciate what our Troops do to defend our country so we can have the freedom that we do have. First of all If there are any of our troops that is reading this, Active,Inactive,Future Troops or Retired I would like to say.. THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for what you are doing or have done or going to do for our country. This movie is a very good one that portrays what they may encounter and some of it is very scary and heart pounding. Then at time it can make you very angry. 10/10 for sure. Enjoy!!!

Almost every country that actually matters on this Earth and has any sway over anything has sick and starving people and they all do their best to fix their problems but you can never completely eliminate problems like that no matter how much effort you try and put in (look at our current administration which promised " Change" without even telling us what that change would be). Also, other than people complaining about the government from time to time we do not have war in our streets. I'm a veteran from Iraq and I can tell you that you have no idea about war and should never use a word like that in the context you put it in EVER. The fact that we (the troops) actually, for good or bad reasons, go around the World trying to help others which is something we have been doing since after the Civil War should be an inspiration to you considering no other country does that and instead sticks to their own self centered motives.

It felt real

It was a very interesting take on the lives of people who do those type of jobs... Don't want to spoil for anyone. I thought it was pretty good, but it didn't feel like a movie more like a documentary to me. Sometimes I felt it was a little boring but then again it's suppOse to depict realism in the army so it was pretty good. I wouldn't give this one an Oscar but I think it deserves a must watch by everyone to see through the eyes of the brave men who serve our country. 8/10

I enjoyed the movie so much I went out and bought the DVD. The action was amazing; snipers - street shooting - bombs going off and bombs not going off. The actors did an exceptional job portraying the emotions of men during wartime as well as thereafter - emotions that, luckily, most of us never know. I loved the portrayals of the people and how they interact between their own peers as well as "the other guys". And the sets plus the directing make you believe you are in Afghanistan or Iraq or whereever this type of warring is taking place at the time you watch it. I believe it is all good. 9/10

I avoided watching this for a few years based on my friends reaction to it. I really like this, hit home for me, especially since I spent so many years in Iraq to include 2004. I tried everything to stay there as long as I could. Good thing the army doesnt have a lot of flight medics, I got to go back a few times after that. I miss it, I miss that sweet drug. Although there was a 6 vehicle minimum to leave the wire, so cruising around with one truck is BS, and I hate the Huey at the end.

A good movie though I found the main character a wee bit irritating. 8/10
