I have just finished watching all ten episodes over 24 hrs and it was just amazing the special effects were out of this world and even better with full surround sound you really get to feel for these men through the different campaigns in the pacific and in the final episode it draws you in just that bit more when they have trouble trying to adapt to civvy life again and forever left wondering why they survived the war and not the other marines but the one thing that really annoyed me and angered me was the fact a lot of those marines went through the entire pacific campaign but came home to nothing, while after all the war ended most of the newer marines came home first to all the celebrations and parades but when the longer serving veterans came home for most there was nothing apart from maybe family & friends and you get a feel of just what that must have felt like remember these men have gone to hell and back over 2 yrs and most came back to nothing not much of welcome home or appreciation for what they did for us all. Also 1 or 2 have commented about this mini-series saying it was nothing like (Band of Brothers) well i should think not they were to completely different campaigns in two completely different climates to start with also if it had have been like Band of Brothers it would have been a let down so me for one is very happy it's different i really enjoyed it and i will definately be watching it all over again at least half a dozen times because from start to finished this was and is a great movie can't wait to see what Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg can come up with next i do hope they do not stop here i would love to see them do a mini-series about the American civil war, and/or the war in Vietnam now that i would like to see,GREAT MOVIE****** 10/10.

I'll just say that band of brothers and the pacific, have both happened. Band of Brothers is about the war in Europe, when the Pacific is about the war against the Japanes. Both Band of Brothers and The Pacific are based on the memories of some of the veterans from both wars. I think that these two mini series are equaly good. sins both of them are true stroies.

Band of Brothers may have been more polished but this showed a lot more of the horrifying action; it also featured a nice perspective on women and family with how the war affected those away from the battle fields. Still good, but I enjoyed the characters on Band of Brothers more.

Of course band of brothers was better, but this is still worth a watch. Not a bad mini series at all!

Most of us can agree that band of brothers was better but this is definitely worth a watch. It doesn't fall far behind BOB :) If your a war junkie like myself you'll be pleased with this.

Excellent series. Shame that it didn't have the same character work that made band of brothers so good tho

This is not a bad sidekick to Band of Brothers, but it was really not a show for me. I had hoped they would have carried on the spirit that made Band of Brothers so "living" to so many of us, meaning that they would let us follow the guys from training - or at least open up the door to their personalities in such a detailed way as they did in BoB. They did not and that made me disappointed. They focused more on battles here, or so it felt. The family and friend part they showed in between seemed to be kind of stuck in the corner of the eye. You see it, it is there, and yet you don't see when you turn your head towards it. I still feared for the ones suffering, but it felt more like any other war movie. I felt more distant to the men in Pacific then the ones in Band of Brothers. I must confess I had a hard time here and there to keep track of the characters. Not like in BoB where I still know some of their names, still seeing their faces, in my head. To some part I guess war movies and TV-series do some good as we should not forget. That does not mean we should go mope and whine and toss some more stones about it. Let it be, but do tell us the stories. I had kind of hoped they would make a Band of Brothers series about "the others". We often forget not everyone on the other side wants to fight, kill, or lose their loved ones when the bullets comes flying in their own direction. I am sure they also got a story to tell. Perhaps they will make one, some day, in same way they made Band of Brothers.
