First "art" film I ever recall seeing. It was also my first visual dose of nudity...late Friday night on Bravo (when the channel was known for showcasing film noir and European cinematic art, not crap reality shows). More than introducing the human body to me in a way I'd not before seen, The Unbearable Lightness of Being opened my mind to artistic films, culture, independent works, etc... So this movie definitely helped make me the girl I am today in a small, bizarre way. Oh..and what do I think of it as a movie? Ahh...it's ok. ;D

The cast was exceptional, and each of the main characters gave stunning performances. Daniel Day Lewis was absolutely perfect, and both Lena Olin and Juliette Binoche were excellent. It's a wonderful political and romantic drama, very well-directed. The plot was engaging, provocative, surprisingly simple, and gorgeously presented. Masterfully adapted from Czech author Milan Kundera's best-seller this is a must see film.

it's been almost 10 years since my last history class...but is there any reason they show Russian tanks painted in Nazi colours?

I think it was a good movie....The only think they have missed, is a scene of Theresa and Sabina having sex :-)) That would have been much better!
