Geordi La Forge is a good engineer and can figure anything out in like 5 minutes, but Miles O'Brien rigs an entire space station to goto warp now that's insane.

I watched most episodes when I was younger, but I just watched the entire series for the first time. Great stuff! I will have to watch DS9 and Voyager in the future, neither of which caught on with me in the past.

This originally aired during the 2nd golden age of NASA (the 1st golden age being Apollo) and wide eyed children only had to look to Star Trek, NASA, and the stars for countless adventures. The first three seasons were a rocky start but growing up watching it you didn't care, and once you get past that rocky start there's countless amazingly written and performed episodes for every taste. Much like the original series the cast became a family and that very much translated into the series as well, but considering the TNG cast had so much more time together I think this showed much more in TNG than the original series. I've seen a lot of people say they liked DS9 and/or Voyager better but it was a very different time when TNG aired. We dared more to dream about what the perfect future could be like and how we might actually achieve it, there was more introspective. Real life situations took a lot of that majesty away and as a world we became more conflicted and pragmatic which definitely shows in both DS9 and Voyager. Every series (yes even Enterprise) has something special about it especially to those that grew up with it, but as someone that never lost that dreamer mentality TNG will always hold a very special place in my heart. As series Finales go, I still think ''All good things'' and the Finale of Babylon 5 were the best ever done for a sci-fi series.

This is the best of the Star Trek franchise in my eyes. Awesome cast and characters you care deeply about. Captain Jean-Luc Picard embodies the best of humanity. I hope they will do another film with this cast someday but I doubt it will happen.

Anyone wishing to re-watch all Star Trek series' and films, old [and accpeted/respected] new [and rejected/still in fan limbo], and who are now arriving at series "The Next Generation", if you have not noted chronology may require that you first watch *only* the "prologue" of the movie called "Generations" before proceding to the first season of Star Trek: The Next Generation TV show. The prologue section (up to the point of screen text "78 years later" is under 25mins in length. Not too much of a delay before you begin TNG. It should be noted that a key character throughout season 2 [onward] in TNG, first appears in the "Generations" prologue where Chekov [from TOS] is seen giving her assistance following a terrible disaster. Should you wish to follow this chronology and watch ONLY the prologue of the movie you should exit the movie at the point when Chekov, Scotty and 'the Captain' are staring directly into space. Or similarly, if you miss that, watch out for screen text "78 years later" at which point bring your star ship to a full stop, and come about before proceeding at maximum warp to "The Next Generation" TV series, season 1. ;)
