Although Game of Thrones has supplanted Deadwood as my favorite show ever, Al Swearengen will always be all time favorite character. "Announcing your plans is a good way to hear god laugh" Al Swearengen

Deadwood is just about as perfect as a show can aspire to be, from the acting and dialogue to the set design and authenticity you feel while watching. Like a perfect storm of risk and confidence it all comes together into one glorious series which weaves a spell on you which only gets deeper the more you watch. The only black stain on this show is that some complete moron cancelled it before we got to see the story come to fruition. I so dearly hope that they either make a final series or make a movie to let us all find some resolution and to see how it all ends for Al the c@*ksucker haha

watching this again for maybe the tenth time.. its simply unrivaled and no other show like it has been made sice , although HELL ON WHEELS has tried it, it doesnt come close.. the dialogue and script is superb. it is my all time favourite, with BREAKING BAD and THE SOPRANOS being also great but DEADWOOD is so unique.. al swearengen is one of the most captivating and complex characters ever created and ian mcshane is many good characters in this, great music, sets, cinematography and a unique insite into how men govern each other in the absence of law.. AMAZING!!

If you hate westerns, this show will convert you! Ian McShane carries this whole thing on his shoulders, but the cast is excellent and makes you wonder, these people were perfectly cast in their roles. Sweggen! Cocksucker! Ive never come across a show were the dialogue was of such good quality, the dialogue alone pulls you in to the era. BTW Calamity Jane is in Sons of Anarchy as Taras lawyer, wow what a change!

I'd have to say that this is my favorite TV Series of all time. I'd even go as far as to say its my favorite western, including films, of all time. The characters, the plot, the dialog, the action, the settings, and everything else are just absolutely top notch. Highly recommended if you haven't given it a chance. Justified and Hell on Wheels are basically the Love Children of Deadwood. If you enjoy either of those shows, you will enjoy this infinitely more. Especially Justified fans will love it, as a LOT of the characters from justified star in this show. 10/10 stars for every episode.

I absolutely loved this show! I can't believe it got canceled. They were supposed to do two 2hour finales that never happened because the lead actors are all involved in other projects now.

WOW!! Best western I've seen, I do believe. It is a damn shame it was only 3 seasons. I will hold out hope they may they may pick it back up and carry on. I went to IMDB and laughed till I cried reading the quotes. They left out one I really liked when Jewel, who played an awesome part, was headed up stairs with the tray to Mrs. Ellsworth and as Sweargin walked off and she headed up the stairs, "Every step is an adventure." At least I think that is exactly how he said it, can't remember for sure now. Anyway, regardless of the language this was a 10/10 on my scale.

DEADWOOD IS THE BEST. I think the last episode ends just fine - so don't be discouraged to watch it because it ended too soon, during the writer strike. There is obviously room for way more episodes and seasons, but Season 3 wrapped up just fine by the end of it (I thought). Writing, acting, characters & story, set design & all the amazing extras - Top Form - Tippy top. Dig! 11/10 (this goes to eleven) *Shout out! to E.B. & Richardson
