Twisted and cool. Slow parts and at parts you get lost but the end is a big twist

The series is counter culture born out of the anxiety and resentment of having to reach unrealistic levels of idealism and success in an ever increasing level of competitive Japanese perfectionism. There is either victory or failure, the later the most frequent and until this series, the only avenues of dealing with it being shame,or all to common in Japan, suicide. Hence the show's birth emerged in this fertile landscape of repressed anger and resentment, offering another alternative to shame or self termination: a rage against the gears of this monstrous competitive idealism in the ultimate literal interpretation of hammering down the nail that sticks out. It is no coincidence that those who find themselves targets of the bat attacks were improving their lives in some way. To allow this is to allow failure to win in the other, and that is unacceptable. The "golden bat" is therefore metaphors to fighting back a system of mindless cruelty that indifferently cast others in the "loser" category. this is the premise of the series. But Ito Nakamura, social commentator, offers another interpretation of the show: "The show is about the loser, inarticulate, impotent, and sterile and ultimately killing what he himself is an utter failure of achieving. the show is more about self-murder than that of those that reach for success. Only the loser of society would see it the other way." Damn. Glad I wasn't born in Toyko. Sounds brutal.

this started good and then it turned weird. I'm sure there's a subliminal message in this but I was just hurrying it up to finish. I didn't really like it. But I'm sure others liked it, it's not all bad...just not for me
