Even though I don't believe humans will ever be wiped out this way, the rest of the movie is accurate. The government has secret underground cities to protect themselves - the 'important and essential.' No warning to the public of what's going on. They believe themselves to be 'essential' to restart the earth. That's the biggest joke of this whole movie - and the reality it's based on. The governments and so-called 'important' people are the foremost cause of the problems in this world. Civilization would only collapse AGAIN if they were allowed to do things their way again. The funniest thing is that everyone in this movie who was considered 'important and essential' enough to live and revitalize the earth was OLD and looking at pictures of their GRANDKIDS. These self righteous people actually said, and I quote -- 'The people out there need us to organize things! They need to know there is order at the top, or they WILL fall apart!' Movie-wise that would be moronic dialogue because they weren't planning on doing anything for 'the people out there.' But, in reality, it's even worse. They don't care about the general population. They're more concerned with getting everything ready for themselves. Why bring the wealthy? There wouldn't be any money, or even a financial system, after an event like that! Sorry, I can't help but see the correlation between reality and the 'important and essential' in this movie. Even so, this was a very good mini-series. (140 minutes, not 180.)

Natural disaster movies with Luke Perry hold an odd fascination for me. They're Must See movies. I don't know why. It's the law and the law must be obeyed. This one doesn't disappoint - at all. Maybe that's why it's the law...

It's too long, and has too much going on. I merely wanted the action -- doomsday, the drama ruined the movie for me. 3/10 from me.

its suprising how many of these cheap budget B movies have come out of Hollywood. This started off alright but it then got sort of fatigued you could even see the actors trying to hide their giggles as they read their lines. good story but not very well executed score 3/10

A good movie, interesting idea of using the sun but still not one that has been over used by writers. 4/5 and worth the watch alone or with the whole family..
