This never gets old, neither in terms of multiple viewings nor in regards to the age of the film, it's a true classic in every sense of the word. Don't miss Hoffman and Voight in this poignant look at friendship and survival. Still a 5/5. Thank you uplinkers.

It's a cold, trippy, strange, creepy, weird, dirty, nasty pathetic world of humans and will always be. A must see classic to put on your bucket list. Not a predictable story. View this first before you watch the rehashed, remake, redone, reboot, that Hollyweird will probably do in the future for lack of originality. I wonder why there are not more comments on this Oscar winning flick. Enjoy your popcorn...

This is one of the all time best films, and |I still cannot understand why Dustin Hoffman did not win the Oscar, perhaps it was a little too real 4 the academy 5/5+++++++

I don't know who wrote the film description, but it is just preposterous. Can I file a letter of complaint somewhere? It is obviously clear this person does not realize that this film has won 3 Academy Awards, 1 Oscar, 6 BAFTA awards and has been deemed "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant" by the Library of Congress and selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry. In other words, this film is a masterpiece in every way. It has been 4 years ago since I watched if for the first time and it has remained one my favourite films of all times. This film is about enduring friendship, the struggle of survival, a portrait of the dark and sinister side of American life. It's a critical look at the American Dream. It is realism at its best. At the same time there is an air of love, lightness and humour that keeps a steady balance between the dark and the light. This film launched Hoffman's and Voight's career into a new realm, it turned them into the stars we know them today to be.

One of Hoffman's best early films. Hollywood gave us great movies in the 60's, this is definitely one of them. 5/5
