This movie takes me back! One of my favorite movies and top 5 favorite books growing up. This made me want to be a rugged survivalist and I'm still chasing that dream....

This movie is based off "The Hatchet" by Gary Paulsen but I think they merged it with the sequel to "The Hatchet" which is "Brians Winter" where he is in the wilderness but obviously from the name this time he is surviving the winter. I actually liked "Brians Winter" better cuz its a lot more stuff he learns and has to endure. After he was rescued well after he was picked up he decided to go back awter awhile at home because he missed the wilderness. Anyway I would suggest yall read "Brians Winter" if you've already read "The Hatchet". Its amazing. Movie: 10/10

This was a very touching movie. It was survival of the fittest, thank goodness, for the miniature axe, his mother gave him, he probably never thought, he'd need it, it played a crucial role, in his survival.Another thing that stood out and caught my attention, was all the beautiful scenery, they definitely picked a good place to film this movie! 4/5

Okay and very watchable movie of a kid surviving in the wilderness of Canada North for over 3 months. Filled with enough incidents and smart moves to remain interesting for 80 minutes. 3/5 The child actor stopped working in movies in 2000 and you can look him up on IMDB - he's in some band named "withdrawal"...
