An excellent cast and good writing make this movie hold up rather well, very enjoyable. The only part I lol'd at was Brolin hanging onto the plane wing during all of those wild maneuvers.

Really good paranoid thriller with a genius plot premise that turns into a bit of a rescue adventure towards the end but still manages to hold attention.

@arcainmech The largest optical wavelength telescope is the Keck Telescope in Hawaii and is 10m in diameter. The Hubble Telescope is only 2.4m in diameter. Even using the Hubble a football stadium sized object on the moon would appear as nothing more than a dot. The lunar rover which is 3m long would still require a telescope 8 times bigger than anything we currently have to see it from here on Earth.

This was a brilliant movie. Great acting from the entire cast. A great story line. This movie shows not to believe everything seen on tv. 10/10.

Not a bad movie, though the ending could've been better. It needed resolution, IMO. Definitely makes you think...if they had the technology to fool us back then, just IMAGINE what they could do now!

I have read an article about the writer who wrote this film, it was originally to be about a faked moon landing and was changed suddenly to Mars, im not sure why (government maybe?)

The idea that the moon landing could've been faked isn't a new one as you'll see if you watch this excellent bit of science fiction,or is it fact?

This movie is now better known as a fictitious rendition of the moon hoax theories but it is also a taught, tense (yet funny) thriller that seemed to be a hallmark of the good 1970's cinema.

The movie starts out fine but then it seems to work a bit out of convenience. Some scenes don't make sense at all like live talking to Mars when signal takes 21 mins to reach, so stated in this flick and planes that do not have radios to send signals. The ending is sadly a fairytale one as it is very contrary to the mood of the beginning. Of course we believe in a happy ending but for this flick, I feel the greater truth and conspiracy ending would have suited the plot better than the one we are presented with which seems a bit mediocre. If the writers were any intelligent, they could made the < let's cut a deal ending like silence for new identity and big money>. Would have been original. In any case, as a thriller it still stands a good watch by todays norms.

Haha. Wow, that is the most blatant piece of product placement I have ever seen in a movie. I suddenly feel like drinking Coca Cola.

There is no doubt that everybody should watch this movie..it proves without a shadow of a doubt that the moon landing was a true hoax..and the fabricated lunar landing was filmed here on earth in the secret area they call area 52. this is an outstanding movie and the plot and dialogue btw the actors is magnificent..the back drop to this is the on going investigation by the reporter elliot gould who is absolutely brilliant in it. This entire movie is a real gem and everyone should watch it. 10/10
