A wonderful book and now I find this most fidel film based on it. Loved it even before watching when I learned a young Jodie Foster played the protagonist, just knew from there this'd be an amazing movie. And it totally met my expectations, gave life to the story in my head. Wouldn't it be awesome if they could come up with adaptions like this one nowadays? Movies would be a lot better, in my opinion.

This movie confirms it for me: Jodie Foster was never a kid! What an amazing actor- I guess some people are truly born with the talent. I read somewhere that Jodie's thoughts about this movie are not so positive: apparently she was pressured a lot to do scenes she didn't want to, which she protested against- which was why her older sister did those nude scenes for her. Anyway, I really enjoyed watching this movie! The character of Rynn reminded me of Eli from Let the Right One In (also known as Let Me In)- a mature mind deeply contrasted by child-like physical traits. Martin Sheen's creepy, paedophile character seemed a bit cartoonish to me, but he did a great job anyway! All in all, good character, good storyline, and good music (apart from that 70s electro theme lol)! 4 stars

I haven't seen this film in a few decades and was quite happy that not only is it as good as I remember; but that is had stood the test of time in the genre of Psychological Thrillers. Jodie Foster gives an absolute superb performance as a young teenager just doing her best to survive. Yes, one has to wonder if she were ever taught any morals. You question yourself: 'Is she a sociopath or is she just simply a survivour who didn't see any other way to survive'? Martin Sheen gave a very creepy and realistic performance as a 'well-to-do' Paedophile. Great story, acting, directing and atmosphere. 5/5 stars.

Just downright twisted. Foster plays a great smart ass, knows too much, kind of kid. Weird at times...OK, most of the time, but it's different and worth a watch. Especially if you like complex characters.

Apparently a body double was used for the one bedroom scene of this film, with Jodie's look alike 21-year-old sister Connie doing the nude bit with her back to the camera, and Jodie's voice being dubbed in. Connie switches off the light and gets into the bed. Then the camera cuts to Jodie, who is covered by a blanket.

A quiet, atmospheric little horror film from the 1970s. Well-made and well-acted, especially by Jodie Foster and Martin Sheen. Aside from the terrible wig, Jodie was hot even at this age. They could have remade ''Lolita'' in the 1970s and Jodie Foster would definitely have been the first choice to play the title role. If it was remade in 2011, it'd have starred Chloe Moretz. 7.5/10

I actually liked the music better than the movie itself. Not quite sure why it managed to get tagged as a horror pic.
