Though not nearly as good as the original, still a good watch and still many lessons embedded in the writing but you can definitely feel the difference in the directors. If you ever thought directors don't make a difference watch the two versions back to back. Ron Howard is light years ahead of this guy in getting what is needed from a script and the performers. Here the lessons are more negative and more muted … you see how we as a nation, as a government would most likely treat our first and even subsequent encounters will probably treat a new life form and it's quite disheartening and it plays on things we would miss if we chose to leave… like family, friends, baseball, hotdogs, from the big to the small. Unfortunately, Cocoon the Return despite being a feel good movie with a feel good ending, dissolves into too much silliness for my taste. Okay to watch as a sequel but don't expect as much. 4/10 whereas I gave the original a full blown 10.

Great feel-good movie... I thought Cocoon 1 cheered me up, but this one just added to the feeling. I do feel that it's been left unfinished though... Great watch though! 8/10
