The KGB the Computer and Me: In 1986, astronomer turned computer scientist Clifford Stoll had just started working on a computer system at the Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory when he noticed a 75-cent discrepancy between the charges printed by two accounting programs responsible for charging people for machine use. Intrigued, he deduced that the system was being hacked, and he determined to find the culprit. This is the re-enactment of how he tracked down KGB cracker Markus Hess through the Ethernet to Hannover, Germany, as is told in his best-selling book _ The Cuckoo's Egg: Tracking a Spy Through the Maze of Computer Espionage_ (1989). Stoll has become a celebrity for being, as he terms himself, "a computer contrarian."

it's a documentary re-enactment for pbs, and clifford played himself..so the acting flaws are to be expected and the info is real...kgb operated all over the world, as does the every nation's spy agencies, so seanmac101, i don't understand why you couldn't believe an operative could find cover as a hacker...IN GERMANY...one of the hotbeds of that activity since day one...lol!

The KGB, The Computer & Me ! Wow, i can't believe i finished this hole movie. Strange early 80's movie, about a computer network security adviser, tiring to catch a hacker from Germany, which makes no since cause the KGB is Russian. The movie is really slow, bad acting, but if your interested in the history of computer networking and hacking you maybe interested in this. This movie is in no way a Documentary, more like a Mock-umentary without them even knowing it. I give this movie a 2/10 for effort and its old school computer information.
