It's a pretty decent remake but the original spooked me more, but then again I was a kid then. 4/5

slow to start but the first half gets you set up for the second half. a complete story!! how novel, lol. the acting was not the best but fairly decent. with a bigger budget and some smart editing this could be a great big screen hit. Both this one and the original are good. about the same level for different reasons though. Use the 2 part from stagevu. the other links cut off too early. 7/10

An ok TV movie, the suspense is not great. It should have been better with the cast they had...

I'm really glad I finally watched this remake of 'Salem's Lot. I just figured out why SK casts Rob Lowe so often, they look alike. I missed the King cameo, so I have to watch it again. 8.5/10.

This version was way more accurate to the book. The original swayed off course quite a bit as well as having a crazy ridiculous vampire. This one portrayed him as more of the man/vampire that was in the book. While the original had its points, this one is far more favorable in terms of accuracy and being more up to date.

This was much better than I expected. Always been a fan of the original, and although it has a place in my heart, it didn't age well. This was good, almost REALLY good, but not quite. The scares could have been better, and some of the dialogue fell flat. Good destruction of Barlow scene!

I rather enjoy this film and watch it annually. A film that is not in the class of those.... one time watchers :) On a wonderfully positive note, for myself and other fans of King, this film is much closer to the book's true story than the first Salem's Lot. But I honestly feel that comparing the two films, is much like comparing apples and oranges, they are quite different. The first is vaguely based on the books, and can be enjoyed just as it is, on its own. But this film's story was closer related to a re-telling of the Book itself. Brilliantly done, for all fans of Stephen King books and movies alike. I am a huge fan myself! Like so many of the other movies based on or from King's books, its long, so if you don't mind long films, its really quite a worthy, made for TV flick! I only have one real gripe with the movie, that being Rob Lowe is the main character, and is no favorite of mine. I feel his acting is mediocre on his best performance, but this is only my opinion, it was not enough to stop me from watching either. Its a great story, it is wonderful Drama, and of course, truly thrilling and who doesn't enjoy great suspense~!! It has it all! ******* 8/10 for me.

I remember this version of 'Salems Lot being pretty bad but I must admit that I enjoyed it a lot this time round. I would still recommend the 1979 version with David Soul over this but if you're not a fan of older movies then this does the job. Anyone who has ever read the novel will also be able to acknowledge that 'Salems Lot 2004 has a lot of parts from the book which were not present in the 70's film. 6/10

I believe this movie is based off of Stephen Kings novel Salem's Lot. Very good book.

It's quite long, I've seen longer but this felt like forever. It's a good movie but sometimes it was too cheesy and seemed like a cheesy horror movie while other times it felt like a really good horror movie. I'm in between with this one. I liked it, it was quite good but I just wanted it to be over. 6/10
