I know it's been mentioned before but this is indeed a darker take on Oz, though more true to the books, and for a kid can be a bit scary. I found this movie interesting and honestly I liked the 'old' special effects of claymation and puppetry. It reminds me of Jim Henson's work. Scenery's great though I'm not sure I care for the initial set up that gets her in to Oz to begin with, but well considering the time frame that really was a commonplace fix for people. A better look at the world of Oz than the 1950s musical for sure.

I grew up in the 80's and never got to see this till today. I saw scenes here and there from Disney specials but knew nothing else of the film. What a wonderful experience. Great movie IMO. Although it bears mentioning that this is a much darker take on the world of OZ even though they stayed more true to the books. Still its done well and the movie is rather engaging. 5/5 P.S. You may recognize the lead character Dorothy played by Fairuza Balk whom also played the lead in The Worst Witch another great cult 80's movie.

Beautiful movie with incredible innocence and I remember as a child screaming in horror at the hall of heads. I think it did better than the musical to capture the spirit of the original books by Baum - it tells the stories based on two different books that were published after The Wizard of Oz , and one could easily fall in love with this film on a quiet Saturday afternoon. If you liked Jim Henson's movie Labyrinth, you'll probably love this one as well! (and if you like reading- I highly recommend getting your hands and eyes on the entire series of Oz books)

This appears to be excepts from the L Frank Baum, OZ Series, the most famous of course was THE WIZARD of OZ. This specific one is called Tic-Toc of Oz ... 8/10

Like many who opined about this movie, I had not seen this movie until a friend of mine had told me it existed. Yes, it is a different take on the tales of Oz but, it was wonderful. The music was beautiful for the film. True, it didn't have the ditties that were in the "Wizard of Oz" but, the music suited the film to a tee. It made me think of Judy Garland, and how wonderful she was, and shed a tear for the wonder of imagination. I guess there is somewhere over the rainbow.

I remember watching this when I was little, but after I rewatched this again I realize it was kinda dark and creepy for kids. But otherwise, I love this movie i brings my childhood back.

I haven't seen this since I was a kid. This is a great film. It is a lil scarier than some of the others but I like that.

Nobody else has wondered/mentioned Dorthy is like 9 in this, its weird if you watch the first movie and then this one. I would say this is not a sequel to the first but rather a completely separate film from the first, no singing is another reason I would say not at all like the first.

This movie stays close to the 3rd book in the Oz series. Good movie, may be a little scary for pre-school kids.
