Great Movie!!! I loved all the actors. it was Vibrant and full of amazement. 5/5. Watch this movie all the way through. it's really good. Plus it was set in the 1920's 30's. Not 50's.

The film seems to be set between 1931- after Duke Ellington left as house band, and 1937, before when the club moved to the Theater district after Harlem riots. At that time it was a Whites Only club, like many white owned clubs and hotels. Duke Ellington convinced management to let Blacks in but if the film is going to be historically accurate then the audience needs to be mostly White. I think the gangster angle was a poor choice considering the musical history of this club and the musical history of this era. Who needs gangsters when you have Duke Ellington?

@mr movieman.: Not true, also it depends on how you look at it. Harlem was the place to be in those days, but it was and is a predominantly African American neigbourhood. and yes also in the good days. you make it seem like it couldnt be good if it was filled with African Americans.. I probably know more about Harlem then you sir..
