I enjoyed the film in parts, the plot was a bit odd, but the acting and special effects were good. Simple problem I had was that it was called Star Trek, it kind of looked like Star Trek, but it wasn't Star Trek.

I was a fan of the original (and Generations, some, but not as much), and went into this one thinking they'd probably blow it. Man, was that NOT the case: I was absolutely blown away by this movie, even going into it with the critical attitude that it'd never live up to its predecessors. Cast: PERFECT. Tying it in to the original, but adding the deviations: PERFECT. The new Enterprise: the best one yet. Everything was really good. I mean, I was really, really surprised, and must have watched it here half a dozen times, which is not my usual M.O. with movies. I can't wait for the next installment in the franchise: 10/10. (P.S. You don't have to be a Trek fan to love this movie.)

I grew up with Kirk, Spock, Uhura, Bones, and Scotty on TV in the 70s. I enjoyed TNG from ep 1 throughout. And I have watched all the previous movies (including The Motion Picture on the first night it was released). And this was worthy of the Star Trek legacy. I especially appreciated the ending, a beautiful tribute to the original and Mr. Nimoy's/Spock's legendary voice over. Mr. Roddenbury would be pleased, I believe, with this prequel to his baby. Well done. Very well done.

I love this movie! My only problem with it is the black hole, It's a hole in 3 dimensional space so it wouldn't look like that. It would look like a black sphere. Also R.I.P Leonard Nimoy!

One of the first lines in this film is, "check your readings what you've sent us doesn't seem possible". Come on trek fans have got to see that as the death of the idea of the federation and the beginning of the us navy in space. Also beaming to a ship at warp light years away?? limiting the super tech was what made star trek good, not magic machines that solve any plot problem a stupid director walks into. as a film not related to star trek 3/5. as a remake of a franchise that inspired, informed and elevated fans that literally faced open mockery for the support they gave it 0/5. please let jj destroy star wars so everyone will see what i know.

there are parts of this story that don't correlate to the actual gene rodenberry story... but trekkies will always know that. live long and "prosper" in these series....

I was blown away with the reboot! In the last scene, I almost had tears in my eyes because of how well they wrote the story and how hauntingly accurate the actors played their television counterparts! Karl Urban was dead on as the younger Bones, the voice, face, mannerisms and all! And Zaccary nailed the Spock role, as did Chris Pine as Kirk! Hell, when the movie first began, I almost though the Asian playing Sooloo was the real dude fro decades ago, till my Harold and Kumar brain kicked in!

They didnt Cast Uhura well in this. Zoe is cute but not all woman and drippin hotness like nichelle nichols. Give a woman some curve not all of us millennial's are into stick figures.

I never get tired of this movie lol. All the characters played their parts great, they did a good job in the casting for this, especially MCcoy aka Karl Urban, the scene in the shuttle when he meets Kirk for the first time was awesome lol. They did a great job adopting all the mannerisms of the original casts characters so it really did feel like watching The Original series. Anyways, great movie, i thought Abrams did a bang on job Directing both this one and Into Darkness. I have seen the preview for the third Installment and i know it has a new director..just from the preview you could see the differences..everyone always talked about the the overuse of the Lens Flares which personally i thought looked pretty cool. I wonder if the new director will do that too as it is kind of unique to the first two movies lol

In my opinion, this is a great rebirthing of the original star trek characters and the storyline is very clever. Without going into detail because I don't want to post spoilers, it allows the storyline of movies to come to take directions other than the original and following generations storylines. The casting, I must say, is excellent and the portrayals of the key characters maintain their original flavour. I'm looking forward to how this new version pans out. Even if you're not already a fan of Star Trek but like a quality action/scifi, then you'll enjoy this, I'd wager.

Very good reboot, with the main characters obviously doing their darndest to fill the shoes of their predecessors, and often succeeding with change to spare. The action is satisfyingly intense, with impressive, although not groundbreaking, special effects. The storyline is rather bold, in keeping with the Star Trek tradition. Nonetheless, I can't help wishing the plot was more thoroughly woven, and that such concepts as time-travel and black-hole dynamics were treated with more respect, and not bandied about like they were no less mundane than a trip to Walmart. Overall, 4/5.
