The Lost Continent: This film starts out like the Love Boat on acid, as a cast of varied characters, with various issues, take Captain Eric Portman's leaky cargo ship to escape their troubles. When a violent storm strikes, the ship is swept into the Sargasso Sea and our heroes find themselves trapped on an island of man-eating seaweed, populated by giant monster crabs and some Spanish conquistadors who think the Inquisition is still on. Features songs and music by '60s "cool group", the Peddlers.

I have waited for this classic hammer film for a long time. I've often wondered then, what dry chemical will burn when mixed with ordinary water. Later on I realized it was Magnesium. I'm giving it a 4/5 or 8/10, only because the last five minutes or so of the movie is missing. But I've still enjoyed it. Give it a try. You may like it too.

Another HAMMER film adaption of a Dennis Wheatley novel.Wheatleys Book was so much better than this movie yet with that being said this will remind anyone that has ever enjoyed a good E.C.comic or pulp-adventure magazine of the times of good adventure,Fantasy, and Thriller story.Made during the same year as the much better,The Devil Rides out,1968,this film has many Fantastical elements that seem to be missing from modern day Cinema.Worth a one time viewing,I,would best describe this as Titannic meets Deep Rising. For the time this was made in its still a rousing Fantasy/Adventure film with a number of Shark,Man-eating sea-weeds,crab-Scorpion monsters added for the die-hard fans and watch out for those Fanatical Spanish Conquistadors that rule the lost Sargasso sea and her Islands of land and trapped ships.FrightNight Scale 3/5.
