I am amazed there are no comments for this movie. I think this was a fantastic movie. The music was superb to listen too. I also liked the cast with Ewan McGregor taking a front role but not dominating the story. This movie was a roller coaster in emotions, some great some sad moments. A movie that should be on your watch list if you like Northern English movies. 10/10.

Well written, well acted, heartwrenching and heartwarming. Good chemistry between this ensemble cast. Some funny moments, but certainly not a comedy. The music is amazing! Very good. Very good, indeed. Highly recommended. I have no idea how this movie garnered an R rating. There's a minor amount of violence, and only off-screen sex, which younger children may not even comprehend. There are some off-color remarks. There's also quite a bit of English swearing - 'bollocks' and 'bloody hell'. That may have been what tipped the R rating, but I would rate this PG-13.

Set in Yorkshire in the mid 80's this movie depicts the lives and trials of the coal miners during the closing of the pits. I enjoyed this movie very much. The acting was good, and the full gamut of emotions was touched on gently, showing the viewer those times in a Northern England community. The music was a bonus, kudos to the band. 4/5 Thank you uplinkers.
