Yes the sound is often out of sync with their mouths which makes it hard to read their lips. I love this movie though as it relays such ugliness of character, pitiness, and yet strength to make it thru even with the smallest of friendship/or very tiny kindness. I feel the world is this way now,...as I am dying from a car smashing me - damaged, chronic pain- like at Jane's age; those in past whom would of helped the poor !..now have mean etiquette or stress. So they knock down the weak/dying/pain. It harms over again,...feeling as Jane is; not of any value. Causing her pain, lets out their frustrations even Mr. Rochester, who tries to marry; then Evil/ just desserts....hits and disables him until he feels angry and worthless at his impairments! 5*

Like most movies based on books, the movie does not cover the entire book, from cover to cover so to speak. But having read the book and having seen this version and the 2011 version, I have to be honest. In this movie the actors bring to live the meaning of the words they speak, and let us know the unspoken meanings behind things. This cast was able to catch the atmosphere of the story, far better then was done in the 2011 movie, and as commented by another user, this actrice is cast well for the role, she is very close to the image that my mind shaped of Jane Eyre after reading the book. Funny that a French Actress, should fit so closely to the character of an English "schoolgirl".

OK, but I think the 2011 version is the best.

the book will always be better, but ill tell you right now that this movie is the best one of them all. the one done in 2010 is... awful. DO NOT WATCH IT

This version was a decent watch, but I always get frustrated with these movies. They never do the book justice. They always leave out the little eccentricities that I love so much and that make the characters so unique. The strange dialog, the flirty tormenting of each other, and why do they always leave out the gypsy part? The actress that played Jane in this version is the closest to the Jane I've imagined but overall they changed the story too much for me.

There are now so many versions of Jane Eyre, one is spoilt for choice, however, I think this version is one of the best as the two leads (Charlotte Gainsbourg and William Hurt) have such chemistry and play their parts with aplomb. 5/5

A book about two rejected, abused and homely (and lonely) people getting together, made into a movie about two VERY attractive actors. That's hollywood for ya.

Love the Book, a personal favorite of mine, and I think this version of the film is one of the best, but the 1986 BBC version is better. Excellent performances by Charlotte Gainsbourg and William Hurt. Beautiful cinematography and a beautifully made movie. Worth a watch... 8/10

tubemotion is linking to the 1996 version, the one I've just seen. I've read the book & seen several versions & wanted to check out again this one directed by Zeffirelli. I'd say that his & the 2011 version are my favorites. Hope that an online streaming link will be added soon. Won't add more, I could actually write a book about this wonderfully deep book & the different versions, :D !
