Nah Madonna didnt do that. (directed to sunshinedaydreamz) Thats a misperception many people make..because someone is famous they think they were the ones that did work for emancipation. That's a certain cognitive bias, attributing certain achievements to a celebrity just because she was extremely visible. But the ones that were not that visible actually did all the hard work for the LGBT community. (watch 'the death and life of Marsha P johnson' for example)Madonna in fact stole so much of the trans vogueing culture that was already vibrant in New York at that time. She stole from the culture and the dance moves. You can watch the documentary about vogueing and see for yourself. Everything Madonna did..existed already..the only thing she did was sing and steal from cultures and become famous. And then ignorant people think she actually invented or did something for gay people. Gay people already had their own vibrant culture back then and fighters that were in the trenches getting dirty and scarred..Madonna stole and took it to the mainstream..there where all the poison lies. Peace

Madonna did spark the wide acceptance of Gay people. She really has been influential to so many generations. And to liberating people from their sexual hangups. This is reflected in this doc to a degree. Mostly it's about a time, and place, in which a group of dancers lived the high life on her biggest tour. It's moving, touching, and sad. And also, i'm not quite sure why I watched it. I was only a Madonna fan in the 80's when she first came on the scene, not a fan at all right now. But then again this isn't really about her at all.

always wanted to know how the dancers from the Vogue Tour were doing. the first time I went to NYC me and a couple of friends saw Jose and Luis at a very popular club back in the day (95-96) called Cafe Caleche' - my friend Marcus was in a vogue off with Jose and some other queens. he definitely held his own. to the point that one of the NY queens burned his sweater with a cigarette. he said it was Jose. we lived that night because we fly in from the NC and my buddy served those up state queens. we walked out heads held high. lol. but great documentary and sad to know that Gabriel is no longer here - along with so many others lost to the AIDs epidemic. still jam to Jose and Luis' song Queen's English. but do let me add that my boo Diana Ross had voguers (was called waaking then) first in her Live at Caesar's Palace concert in 1979. Micheal even stole one of his signature moves (the leg kick side to side move) from one of Diana's dancers from the concert. check it out on Youtube. but Madonna once said that one of her favs was Miss Ross. so good for her for really bringing voguing to the mainstream. and I loved Madonna back then. but just don't care for her new music - too scary for me. dancers with Baphomet horns and all. but to each their own. she's still a bada..!
