Nope. Protect your 2 hours. The description here is way more entertaining, even if you just read it over and over 1000 times. 1/5

A good one-time watch. 4/5. It has a classic theme to it in my opinion. A woman tries to be independent in a time when women weren't supposed to be. Of course this movie has it's own spin on it, so this theme almost gets lost in the plot as a side show, but remember it. Even though Rachel is displayed as the antagonist, being sly, devious, and taking some of her actions too far (undeniably), she does it with intent. She knows how to survive in the world of men in her own wicked way. Her approach is sinister, but I can't help but understand her actions. She was a woman ahead of her time, wanting independence and a life full of different stimuli/experiences, or just freedom. Again, the way she goes about it is dark and disagreeable, but her intent is pretty clear. The scene showing an idyllic and happy family towards the end (focus on the woman here) was actually the antithesis of what Rachel was. You're shown an example of a family where the woman just falls into her role of what she's expected to be. Again, a classic display of gender roles and what that time period was like. Makes you think.

Rachel Weisz is quality as the dark, seductive stranger and it's nicely shot and pretty to look at, but a very slow moving movie indeed. I liked it but was hoping for more, so disappointed overall.

Dark countryside manor, tumultuous and mysterious relationships. Mental disorder or treachery. You have to decide and I left this one knowing little more after 2 hours than the beginning. Could have been so much better. ... 6/10

Twenty-five year old males are still stupid boys who's brains aren't yet fully developed. I know, I have one of my own and just when I think he has finally fully matured he goes and does something completely idiotic. The last thing I would do is hand him a big chunk of money.

A competent gothic romance/mystery in and of itself. However, having recently read the book this is adapted from, it isn't faithful to the novel. The cinematography is beautiful and is worth a watch just for that.

Watch the original (1952) version instead. It stars the great Olivia DeHavilland and Richard Burton.

What a strange film. The story offers plenty of plausible happenings but fails to deliver any answers. Its full of paranoia and conjecture but no substantive explanation. Maybe I missed something along the way, but the film wasn't interesting enough for me to go back and look.

Waiting for the end after 60 mins of a boring movie. You will never get this time back so watch something else.

Original was with Olivia Dehavilland, which was spectacular. I watched it on "Saturday Night At the Movies" with Elwy Yost, when I was a little girl back in the early '80s. I was enthralled, recorded it on vhs from my black and white TV. Was like magic! lol

Pretty good and intense little movie but I have to concur, it's missing something to feel really great. I'd still recommend watching it, and not just because I'm biased (although I'd gladly watch Rachel Weisz recite the alphabet for 2 hours), but because the performances and the atmosphere make it a good one-time watch. 3/5

Yes it could have been so much better, this adaptation of Daphne Du Maurier novel is good to the eyes, creating the right atmosphere, but by staying inconclusive in the multi layered plot,it becomes increasingly frustrating in defining the real purposes of the main characters, mixing good and evil intents in a merry go round of contradictory events...good acting from Rachel as always, not so much from rest of cast...a mixed feelings viewing then...7/10.

I'm not even clear what the point of the movie was. A lot of loose ends.

Yes it's true, this lacks some luster. But I just can't resist watching Miss Weisz on the screen. A brilliant actress.

A beautifully filmed and well acted period piece, but the storyline is not as compelling as Daphne du Maurier's classic, Rebecca. Not having read the book, I'm not sure if this is due to the author or the director. Either way, it could have used some more suspense to make it more interesting. Many thanks to the uploaders, however.

Well, I did not expect that ending. I was getting bored the first hour of it. It gradually became suspenseful but for some reason I thought it would have been a lot better. The ending was the only part that really was interesting actually, lol. I kept hanging in there thinking it would become what I imagined but not so much. This was alright.
