For you tech geeks out there, I can sum up the Robert Langdon series with a popular computer euphemism: Garbage in, garbage out. It's hard to create a worthwhile thriller if your source material is equally as abjectly ridiculous and sullied as the Langdon novels are. This is simply pseudo-intellectual popcorn fodder that plays fast and loose with facts to create a grand conspiracy as far-fetched as anything found on Infowars. That said, it's also ironic that the novel's conspiracy components was a modern construct instead of something preconceived by the ancients. And it's also a little more clever than Dan Brown's previous conspiracy-tied-to-art outings. But that's the novel. The movie has a hard time translating that quasi-complexity to the screen without losing the viewer. *POTENTIAL MINOR SPOILERS* What is most dismaying is the altered ending the movie employs compared to the novel. In many ways, Inferno the novel is Dan Brown's most cynical, dark book to-date, with an ending that can leave a reader conflicted between right and wrong. The film doesn't employ that one final twist read at the end of the novel, and ends on more of an upbeat note. I'm not entirely sure how I feel about that. I can see that there was no way Hollywood would allow the original novel ending on the screen given the virus' consequences. But the "fixed" ending of the movie just feels cheap.

Yeah, left wing liberals cant kill enough people for the sake of the planet. After all, a tree hurling in space on an empty rock is a beautiful image, no? Lets kill all humanity and save the tree. So the liberal idiot in this movie backed it off a bit. He only wanted to kill half the world. Well, if the idiot watched his own video, he said the world population will double in 40 years. So what happens when you kill half? You just push off the problem a few extra decades. Whoop dee doo! This over-population crap was what the libs pushed back in the 70s and 80s. Just before the coming ice age. Which preceded global warming. Which preced climate change because they haven't a clue what the weather is doing. Thank god we got rid of Hillery and hopefully a good portion of all this liberal crap will follow. Overpopulation?! What morons!

As a fan of Ron Howard's previous adaptations as well as of Dante's poetry, I was sadly disappointed. I haven't read the novel, but comparing the movie to the previous ones it's an uninspired, convoluted parody of what made them so much fun to watch. It felt like it was done on auto-pilot, with an over-reliance on impressive special effects. This is inexcusable for such a talented director.

Hanks delivers no matter what movie he's in. This is because he's a terrific actor, hands down. Although this movie has a completely valid premise, the story is really a stretch of the imagination and seems ridiculous. Anyone that understands the mathematics of the gross and disgusting overpopulation problem that is going on in the world can appreciate this movie--the human race needs to be culled in order to save it. However, if one were to create a virus to do this, they would do it in secret and not marry it to Dante's Inferno. That's why the plot in this movie comes off as ridiculous. Still entertaining though.

So it's just another Robert Langdon mystery. I thought it was better than the reviews. Nothing special worth a watch IMO. Don't think about it too much and you will enjoy it. I guess.

Saw this in the theater, and I have to say it didn't live up to the first two movies. I like Tom Hanks and think he did a good job. It just wasn't as fast paced, keep you guessing kind of movie to me. At times I though it was boring.

Disappointing series. The books were fast paced fun but that's somehow lost on the big screen. I love Tom Hanks although Ive always imagined Edward Norton in the role. But even that wouldn't save the series for me. Im not exactly sure where they went wrong but maybe they needed a different director to make it 'pop'.

The screenplay is decent and sometimes even brilliant. It's a formidable thriller and there are a lot of elements to keep you interested. But ultimately what makes or breaks the film is that the antagonist's reasoning is simply not very believable for the rational person. It's like you have all this action and twists, but people still won't be able to get around the not-very-believable premise.

Truth be told, if you've read Dan Brown's novel, be prepared for substantial disappointment with ''Inferno.'' It's as if the movie makers decided to present a detailed outline of the story instead of the story itself. The Carabinieri impersonating female villain in the movie, for example, was almost as two-dimensional as a Joe Palooka Bubblegum cartoon, whereas in the book she had a strong backstory, motives and a life that made her formidable FOR THOSE REASONS, all absent in the movie. Short-shrifts and shortcuts abound in ''Inferno,'' and in my view, not even Tom Hanks could rescue it. This Dan Brown novel on screen was several cuts below the first two. Best I can do is three unpopped popcorn kernels of the five left on the bottom of the bag. Watchable, but not at all satisfying in the end.

All the Dan Brown bandwagon fans, who never heard of him before The DVC movie, telling us how much better the book was. I, for one, find his writing to be barely mediocre and am glad that Howard and Hanks have teamed up to turn his work into something consistently entertaining. This story is no exception. Crichton, Grisham, Brown...snooze.

Lifeless. Good premise but I didn't like how everything was explained through cheesy flashbacks, especially as a device to just keep the plot moving forward when it was standing still. Didn't read the book, but still predictable. Fans of the series will probably enjoy it but I did not. 1/5.

Good fast-paced, non-stop thriller, with enough twists to keep you interested. Tom Hanks is working with less material here than in The DaVinci Code, but still manages to put his mark on this otherwise weak story. Felicity Jones has a juicy role and ends up stealing most of her scenes away from Hanks. And the great Danish actress Sidse Babett Knudsen puts in a strong supporting performance. 7/10.
