This is one of the best shows ever! Seriously! Not only is it continuing a legacy but it's both entertaining AND educational! I love this show so much! And to all the people stating that Tyson is kissing Sagan's ass like ki1ted_yaksm3n stated, 2 things: There is such a thing as due respect, and paying homage like people used to do before everyone forgot what it was to be grateful and appreciative and Sagan deserves to have his ass kissed. Do the knowledge. Look at that man's body of work and influences and tell me that he isn't to be beheld higher than the 'celebrities' & 'pop stars' some of you people worship! You can vote this down all you want, won't make it any less true and it only speaks volumes of your character!

I've read some reviews online and on this site about Neil Tyson kissing Carl Sagan's ass too much in the show. For these people I say 'Come on!' Did you hear the story at the end where Neil talked about how Carl directly influenced him to become an astrophysicist? Of course he's going to kiss Carl Sagan's butt, he has every right to, he's the host of the show after all..

What an amazing episode! I first read Cosmos when I was 14, and still re-reading 30 yrs later! Sagan and Tyson are true inspirations for scientific literacy. 15/10!

Neil deGrasse Tyson is one of the coolest guys ever(Along with Richard Dawkins). Whether you are a layman or not, if you like science, this is a must watch!

This show is totally amazing, and has opened my eyes to many things! Even at my age this has helped spark incredible interests.. You must also watch Carl Sagan's version as well!

First episode gave me goose bumps and brought me to tears. Questions I've have since I was a little girl were answered within 20 minutes of watching. Such an awesome docuseries.

It is only by communicating the truths that science provides us and the questions those truths lead to that we can ever really move from being a species ruled by superstition and fear to one ruled by intellect and appreciation for all things we share this universe with. Carl Sagan understood that for space exploration, astronomy and physics to ever be given the kind of financial and sociological emphasis that it so richly deserves it would take more than just a bunch of intellectuals clamoring for funding. He and I believe Tyson also understand that it is only by sharing these amazing miracles of the universe that we have discovered through science and reasoning that more pressure can be brought to bear to place priority on these things. Beautiful show that illustrates both the sheer beauty of our very existence and yet manages to show us how our own beauty is but just a mere micro-pixel of the beauty the universe offers comparitively

@Tyseo. We are still evolving. No more sea life will turn into humans. It continues from human to whatever is next. These are not visible changes you know. Studies are 100% true that average breast size is increasing. Both due to hormones in food and of course the women with that DNA have a slightly higher chance of being involved in reproduction. This is evolution! Anything that gives certain traits an edge to reproduce a bit more often than those that lack a trait. Also he never said we came from fish. He said human ancestors once lived in the sea. Closer in time: we did not come from monkeys. Human ancestors were once as simple as the primates we now have. Humans however had all the right components to evolve. Grasping hands, ability to walk upright. But most special was the size of the brain (which current primates are no where close) Did you beleive the dog part? I loved that one. He never bashed any religion either. There is no reason you can't say that all this was god's plan. The fact that he didn't say it is not bashing religion. Theory and theology can live together if you need them to. Also, a lack of a second season says nothing. It was always planned to be 13 ep, exactly as the 1980 series

Carl Sagan was one of the great minds of our time, Neil Tyson is a charismatic fellow and Seth Macfarlane is a genius for showing this program on Fox.

Love it. Love it. Love it. Nothing new, but that's just fine because I didn't really expect to learn anything new in it. Carl Sagan taught it to me already and inspired me to be a Physicist, but nice to see it updated for a new generation of kids to get excited about science.

If there was anything that could be more appropriately described as epic I'd like to know about it. Homer eat your heart out.

First of all... Awesome!!! This show has given me another perspective about us as humans and how insignificant we are. It has also shown me how much science has advanced and how much knowledge is out there waiting to be found. It has become one of my favorite tv series of all time!!! Thank you Carl Sagan...
