The Blacklist: 'The Blacklist' follows Raymond "Red" Reddington (James Spader), one of the FBI's most wanted fugitives, as he joins with the FBI, claiming that they can work with one another. When he agrees to cooperate in bringing down dangerous criminals and terrorists, he tells them that he will only speak with Elizabeth Keen (Megan Boone), a rookie FBI profiler. As they work together, Keen questions Reddington's motives and Reddington simply feels she is very special. When one terrorist is taken down, Reddington informs them that it is only the beginning. Reddington gives the FBI access to "The Blacklist", a list with known terrorists and criminals the world doesn't know about. With Reddington's help, they work together to eradicate the list. Created by Jon Bokenkamp, the series also stars: Harry Lennix as FBI Assistant Director Harold Cooper, Diego Klattenhoff as Donald Ressler, Ryan Eggold as Tom Keen, Ilfenesh Hadera as Jennifer Palmer

Let's face it, James Spader is pretty much single handedly saving this show. I think I'd watch him read the back of a cereal box.

James Spader has to be absolutely one of the best of the best actors on US television.Every show or movie he has done has been exceptional,he makes this series.

for a 'villain of the week' type show with only glimpses of over-arching plot lines, this is without question among the best produced (ESPECIALLY currently). In the last few episodes ,starting around episode 9, the series has really hit its stride. Spader is by no means over-hyped in this role. he IS absolutely fantastic, and makes a role that would normally require a hell of a lot of suspension of disbelief- into a completely believable, chilling antihero. an added bonus i have been noticing over the last couple episodes is the inclusion of a fantastic and smartly placed soundtrack. johnny cash/gordon lightfoot, etc.. have to love great songs being played during intense moments of brutality. 9/10...only deduction is i wish they would give more focus to their 'long game' plotlines.

Like others have said before, this show is interesting and has potential. This is largely due to the character played very well by James Spader. BUT...the weakness of this show lies in the female lead. I feel she is not credible in the role she attempts to depict. Alas, like in many other US TV shows, there is an emphasis on casting very attractive people at the expense of acting talent. For what its worth I would've put Emmy Rossum (Fiona in Shameless U.S.) as the lead female. She has gravitas and can portray the angst required for the role.

This show is quite honestly one of the top 10 shows ever created in my opinion. I'm enthralled in it each and every week. I just love the mystery and twist every week. Each week something makes you go DAMM! If Spader does not win an Emmy for this character, it will be a travesty. His best work yet in my opinion...

just watched pilot; I'm sold. Spader does the mastermind manipulator so damn well; liked his work since the Practice.

I will watch anything with James Spader in it! Great come back. This guy is the Madonna of TV.

Honestly this show would be perfect if they had chosen a different female for the lead. If it werent for James Spader her wig and one expression would have run me off already.

Came to the party a bit late, but I'm LOVING Red. He IS the show. I've been describing him to people: "He's Hannibal Lecter without the cannibalism... that we know of." (more of the Anthony Hopkins version) He's self-assured, well-read, well-travelled, nothing phases him, he's not someone to be trifled with. Actually, I wouldn't doubt he and Lecter have shared a few meals and even exchange recipes.

WOW WOW!! this show is amazing I am totally hooked, everybody's acting is great except for Magen Boone, imo is the weakest of them all most of the time with an expressionless face except may be for the last couple of episodes. Most of all James Spader is amazing as always I just love the guy...he is a genius he did make this show a success.

They must bring this back for the rest of the season and many more! it's wayy to good. I see this having a long future if the writers stay on the right track. No need to even compare it to any other show. Its a unique and unpredictable drama!!!

If it wasn't for Spader, I could find no reason to watch this show. Because I do not watch TV, when a show with a lot of propaganda catches my eye, I just cannot find any reason to watch it. Spader makes this one worth it but just barely. Oh how I miss the days of a good Cuban and a Scotch with Denny Crane.

James Spader is great in this, didn't much care for some of his movies, but I thought he was great in Boston Legal, so was Shatner oddly enough. One of the things I like best about this show is the 22 episode seasons. That's what I grew up with and what I'm used to. Too many shows have short seasons (10 epis or less) or they break them up with months between half seasons. Drives me nuts. God I sound so freakin old.

James Spader must be mentoring Ms. Boone....she has improved just the tiniest bit. :) Thank God for that. Perhaps that lack of affect has to do with a history of beauty pageants or something....anything besides smiling is foreign ? Oh, and have we come upon an intermission or something now? UPDATE: After watching the March 12 episode, gotta say that Ms Boone has upped her game. Best acting I've seen yet. Convincing and appropriate affect. Excellent show.
