I couldn't get through it the 1st time, bcz of the bad acting of Charlie Hunnam and Rinko Kikuchi, but gave it a 2nd watch, had more appreciation for the rest of cast, was able to enjoy movie.

When I first saw the previews the image of Gundams fighting Godzilla popped into my brain. 3/5 Why? As a whole the movie is enjoyable but lacks any sort of depth story wise. Would have loved to have seen more character interaction considering how intimate the process is to control the bots.

I'll save you some time. This movie is basically a slightly higher budget, two-hour episode of Power Rangers. If you're into that, you're good to go and more power to ya. I couldn't sit through more than half of it. Maybe when there's a decent copy I'll give it another try. Missed so much of the dialogue because of low-res sound.

As a child growing up in the 70's I watched as many of the old Japanese monster movies as I possibly could and I absolutely loved those old Godzilla movies eventho the monsters were nothing but men in suits.Pacific Rim takes me down a stroll down memory lane as it brings back those nostalgic feelings of days long ago.I really love Pacific Rim.Guillermo del Toro has done right by fans of those old Godzilla movies.I highly recommend this movie for young and old alike. It is absolutely bomb.

hmmm.... kinda reminds me of like Voltron, or like power rangers.... not sure if i likem it, i'm sure the CGI is great in the theaters, but the plot... um. seems a lil kiddie to me.

Cannot say it lives up to the hype but it will help pass the time. Great overture but after that it dies down in an hours long filler devoid of any action. Corny dialogue, Melodramatic situations we have seen 100 times and actors who seems to be forcing it sometimes. The action part was not bad but I felt it could have been better. The theoretical science leaves to be desired as well. At times it seems coherent with the universe created and at times, convenience just sinks in for the story to unfold. When you get to the actual concrete science part, then I fear they just fantasised about that too. Add to the expected predictable ending that has been done to death in other movies and I find that they could have just done a "rock em sock em robots" movie instead and we would have not been the wiser. So much more to say but it will take too long but I find the lack of military primary assault support my greatest beef with this movie. If there was any sound logical strategy, the term softening the target could have helped the Jagers greatly and it would have made sense too in a movie of such caliber. how could the writers omit that. It would have added to the ambiance and the credibility of actual combat not mentioning the visual charisma of the audience, because we all love seeing missile barrages for instance. Anyway, did not go into this overexpecting but when you think the budget spent on it, I find there are some old sci fi Japanese movies similar in class with lesser achieving more in terms of overall satisfaction.

Comparing this movie to "transformers" is like comparing Jurassic Park to Barney ... this movie is awesome on so many levels, best movie in 13' so far. Power Rangers for grown men right here 9/10

I was a huge Godzilla fan when I was a kid and a lot of it reminded me of Transformers and Iron Man. Honestly, I found parts of it difficult to wade through and after all the mundane dialogue I still didn't care about the characters and was obvious who the love interest was. I think the storyline was far too simplistic and felt more in-dept history and development might have created more interest for me as to the characters and how it all came to be. To be fair though I'm sure seeing the fight sequences on the big screen would have been really nice however balanced with the rest of the film I'd have regretted spending the $15 in a 1st run theater. All in all it was an okay film I'd rate a 3/5

Amazing movie, 5 STARS!!! This was Voltron 2013... No cheesy lines, no predictable scenes, all top notch! I have to say this is the #1 Action/Sci-Fi summer film for 2013.

Just saw it in theaters, its a good movie. Action is top notch, the action scenes are top notch, the acting is ok, i think they put to much time into trying to make u care for the characters when in reality u cared more for the survival of earth. Its a interesting plot, kind of like Transformers, Godzilla and Independence day combined, the speech thats given is almost exactly like the speech at the end of Independence day. Still good, powerful words are said and the fight is epic. Id say its a overall great movie, Charlie Day surprised me with his character it was a good fit for him, he was funny but also a good part of the movie overall. 4/5, go into it expecting lots of action.

One of Guillermo Del Toro's inferior films, Pacific Rim is overhyped and overrated. The plot was rushed and underdeveloped to make way for the action scenes which were meant to be the highlight of the film, instead the fight choreography was uninspiring and unrealistic. The SFX was the movie strong-suit but it was held back by the awful designs of both the clumsy ''Jaegers'' and ridiculous ''Kaijus''. The movie had one noticeable soundtrack score which repeatedly overkilled the more emotional scenes to the point of cornyness. The best performance by far came from a minor role played by Ron Pearlman. Rinko Kikuchi's acting was wasted and her character only reinforced stereotypes. Portrayals from everybody else including leading actor Charlie Hunnam were either too annoying or too forgettable. Dumb blockbuster monster bashing, Hollywood style. Let's just hope the upcoming new Godzilla movie doesn't fall into the same crap trap. [2.8/5]
