Do yourself a huge favor. Get some friends together and go see it in the theatre. If you can, in 3D. No, some parts are not in the book. Don't expect a direct interpretation from the book. BUT, it's Peter Jackson. You remember the guy who did an amazing job with LOTR. He did it again. Your Christmas present to yourself (one of them at least) is to see it on the big screen. Now the horrible wait for the next one!

All I can say is I LOVED THIS MOVIE!And people need to grow up and stop complaining about such silly things like, oh its too long the book was just a short story! WHAT! Your complaining that they give us too much of a story! I have read all those books, seen the animated versions too! But I love the movies and think Peter Jackson did the best job anyone could have with both stories! I am not in anyway disappointed, it is a beautiful movie! The camera work alone is amazing! I can't wait till the next movie, I for one am glad they are creating more to the story, whether its a money making scheme or not! I don't really care, anyway all movies, books and TV shows are money making schemes! And those who say this was boring until the end, must have been watching something else! Because this was great from the start! Just because there wasn't action for the first 30 mins, doesn't make it boring! This is a Trilogy, so they are saving some of it for the next movie, like they did with LOTR! Anyway 5/5 stars!

Amazing! Absolutely amazing! Saw this at the cinema last Thursday, and as I left I honestly contemplated running away to find a band of dwarves and go on an adventure! Cannot WAIT for the second installment, and considering that they only got to chapter 7 in this film, and still managed to put so much in, I have hope that the next two will be just as good, if not better! 5 stars

I'm hard on movies. Because they all suck. I went into this film knowing nothing about it. Didn't read the reviews. Didn't watch the trailers. What a pleasant surprise it was. Much better than I thought it was going to be. I was expecting Sleeping Beauty. What I got was Lord of the Rings. Nicely done, Peter Jackson. He's the only man on the planet who can pull this off. Time and time again. Go see it in the Theaters. Don't watch it on this site.

Always and forever LOTR fan and the Hobbit fan! Great movie, loved how Peter Jackson added new things to the movie but kept little details from the LOTR. Even though the movie was a bit different from the book, but I do believe it was amazing. Always a fan!!! My best movie and trilogy of all time.

Great movie, stunning cinematography, brought me back to memories of my childhood when I read the book, even though it's not entirely strict to the book, the LOTR movies really are the best book-to-movie adaptation ever. 10/10

Just came back from watching it in the theater. Amazing! I love, love, love Tolkien's world and I loved Jackson's interpretation of it. The only thing is, going in, don't expect it to have the same flow and feel as the LOTR movies. Regard it as a stand-alone piece, even if it isn't. Many people complained that it isn't as fast-paced, a tad too slow. I do agree with that to some extent, but the thing is, in my opinion, in LOTR stakes were much higher, it had a much darker story line, everyone was at war. In Hobbit story is just unfolding, it's a beginning of sorts. There were also complaints that some things were changed from the book, but as Gandalf says in the movie himself: Every good story deserves to be embellished.

I think people are getting confused. They did not change the Balrog for a dragon. In LOTR the Balrog is deep in the Mines of Moria. In this film however it is the Lonely Mountain, not the Mines of Moria, and this is where the Dragon is. In the beggining of the Lord of The Rings Gandalf says to Frodo about an incident involving a dragon when he had to nudge Bilbo to get him to go on the quest, he is referring to this story in the Hobbit.

For those who compare this film to Lord of the Rings-consider this: The two distinguishing themes between the two are Adventure and Quest. The Hobbit is a voluntary adventure in search for treasure! There and back again, a fun story! Lord of the Rings is a quest of impending doom that the characters are thrown into with no prize at the end, they do it because they must. They may never come back again and if they do, they will never be the same. In short, I loved it :D

Fuck what the critics say this is a great film, rating the film based on the frame rate was stupid! 48 fps at the cinema wasn't a bad thing but I still prefer 24 fps. Looking forward to the next one. 9/10

For a movie so long, I was surprised I was captivated the entire time! The costumes and make-up were phenomenal and the acting was great as well. I can't wait for the next 2 films to come out

I cannot in mere words describe how much grander this movie was in theaters, if I weren't there myself I wouldn't believe it. Even so, I am re-watching it here because it is that good of a movie. This shall go down in time as one of my favorites! 10/10
