Evelyn: Desmond Doyle is devastated when his wife abandons their family on the day after Christmas. His unemployment and the fact that there is no woman in the house to care for the children, Evelyn, Dermot and Maurice, make it clear to the authorities that his is an untenable situation. The Catholic Church and the Irish courts decide to put the Doyle children into Church-run orphanages. Although a sympathetic judge assures Desmond that when his financial situation reverses, he will be able to get his children back; money is hard to come by. During that time, Evelyn and her brothers suffer the abuses of living in orphanages while Desmond struggles to secure finances. Now he must battle the courts to get his children back.

Religion and government are the evil entities that need to be smited in this film. It is tragic that kids were taken from their parents during a period in history. This was and still is a world wide practice that needs to be crushed. I fault the Catholic Church for a lot of the evils that they practiced as well as turned a blind eye too. That still continues today with the pedophile problem that will forever haunt the Catholic religion as well as all the other cults that humans believe in. Taking children from parents without reason or consent is pure evil and the ones involved should be executed rather imprisoned for life. Mix government and religion and you will have the downfall of civilization all over this forsaken planet. It is happening now as you read this. I have said enough.......

Good movie. It was boring at some parts though. The acting was pretty good, same with the story line. Worth watching.
