Pink Ribbons Inc: Breast cancer has become the poster child of corporate cause-related marketing campaigns. Countless women and men walk, bike, climb and shop for the cure. Each year, millions of dollars are raised in the name of breast cancer, but where does this money go and what does it actually achieve? Pink Ribbons, Inc. is a feature documentary that shows how the devastating reality of breast cancer, which marketing experts have labeled a "dream cause," becomes obfuscated by a shiny, pink story of success.

Anyone shocked by the answer to the equation anything+money=less that ideal results, has not been paying attention. As one of the handful of very very strong interviews said in this film, "The aim of research is profit, not a cure. This is capitolism." I couldn't have said it any better myself. In a society that worships capital (capitolism)and abhors community (communism) and society (socialism), should we really wonder why or be surprised when a stateless sociopathic multinational company takes the more lucrative option which often stands in direct opposition to effectiveness? I think not. As far as the film goes, I have a couple critiques of the film though I think that, overall it was well executed and very informative. One thing I didn't particularly care for was the ambush of women, some of whom obviously had the affliction it was advocating for. These interviews made the people in them look a bit silly, I felt this was not needed and that the directors and spokesmen for the foundations the people in the interviews were there for. All in all this film will cause most to think outside their comfort zone whivh is the aim of most documentaries, in this sense, it was a success.

When the Susan G. Komen Foundation raises 1.2 Billion dollars, and only 3% gets funneled into research to prevent cancer, there's a problem. Everyone feels good about buying products that "say" they devote money to cancer research. It's all about the bottom line, and yes, Yoplait, KFC, AVON and others will and do exploit our feel-goods to obtain our money and their bottom-line. 5/5

Not the best documentary but a great look at the business of breast cancer milking. I will never "support the cause" again.

eye-opening but i wish they would have presented more factual information and it could have been a little bit more cohesive (it seemed that at times it was jumping from place to place), however commentary provided was insightful and thoughtful 3/5
