If the Seed Doesn't die: Two fathers, a Romanian searching for his daughter who was forced into prostitution in Kosovo, and a Serbian seeking the body of his son killed in a car accident in Romania, meet on the river Danube. A boatman recounts the 200 year-old legend of Romanian peasants struggling unsuccessfully to move an old wooden church up the hill to their village at a time when building Orthodox churches was prohibited.

Not my cup of tea, surreal and disturbing at times.

I always found the balancing act between comedy and drama in eastern European movies very challenging and exhilarating....certainly never dull. This is a classic example of squeezing out of a mostly disturbing plot a Danubian river, literally,of humoristic yet shocking lifelines....gags and corpses, love and depravities...truly a tragic sense of humour in a very chaotic and slowly changing world....4/5.

really good movie, give it a chance, had a bit of everything, from religion to different cultures to how times when in modern area during the nato bombings in Kosovo to going way back in time to resurrect an eastern orthodox church in Romania. Def a good watch, subtitles not too bad not all that accurate at times but good still. 9/10

At first I thought there had been a problem in the cutting room till I realized this is expressionistic, not realistic. There is an extremely disturbing scene toward the end. Men can be so depraved. Loved the last frames though, magical, haunting.7/10
