The Syrian Uprising: Syria has been a dictatorship run by the Assad family since 1970. In that year, Hafez al-Assad, the Defense Minister, launched a coup that put him in power. Upon the death of Hafez al-Assad in 2000, his son, Bashar al-Assad, became President of Syria. Both Assads used terror and force to remain in power. The elder Assad suppressed a rebellion in 1982 in the city of Hama by unleashing the Syrian military on that city. At least 10,000 people, mostly innocent civilians, died in that uprising.

This was alright considering its from the early days of the Syrian uprising when things were idealistic and naive before it warped into an all out proxy and civil war. At this point even if Assad loses there will be yet another civil war between the Islamic extremists and more secular forces, or we will end up with another situation like that in Libya at the moment where militias dominate and continue to fight. Assad isn't a saint but what world leader doesn't have blood on their hands? At least with his regime you know what to expect, secularism and protection of the clusterfuck of minorities in Syria that support him to avoid tyranny of the majority.

Totally agree with you... he can't even be called a animal, animals would not even do what he and his minions have done and are doing. He is like sh*t on the ground, it remains on the ground ruining everything around it until someone has decency to remove it. His father was the same... despicable.
