The Heart of Me: In the 1930s Ricky Masters, an English businessman, marries Madeleine, a fine match socially, but the cultured aesthete is more and more attracted to her sister Dinah, a 'Bohemian' painter, and as they spend time together their affair becomes physical, even all the way; yet when she gets pregnant they decide to leave his marriage intact. He raises his son with Madeleine, who tells him only in 1946 that she knew after he had a car accident during a 'business trip' to southern France that caused Dinah to loose her unborn daughter; now Ricky wants to leave Madeleine, but she refuses a divorce; after a time in hospital he is told Dinah chose to move back to France without him while she's really living in London, still not the last twist of the drama...

GREAT film. I feel I could watch it again immediately and pick up feelings that I missed the first time through. Very nuanced screenplay. I loved it and became emotionally connected to the characters. Definitely an overlooked gem of a film. 9.5/10

How can it go wrong. Helena is always great and Bettany and Olivia Williams shine. Why does love gone wrong always tug so much 9/10

I've started viewing the third valid version, after attempting the first two - all the text is back to front, and when we come face to face with the characters for the first time, they look like negatives of real people, i.e. faces bordering on pale blue, hats a darkish brown colour. I won't be able to concentrate if the last valid, i.e. ticked version is the same. Why are they all like this? Are they viral? Surely the two main companies can deliver better quality than this... I was looking forward to watching this, but low such standards have really put me off. Is it really that much to ask? (rhetorical question, as most of them are) I wouldn't have thought so.

brilliant film with very real characters and a fantastic storyline! one of the few period dramas that made me want to re-watch scenes rather than skip them.

Very good film. Depressing. So unfair. Brings out controversial feelings.

Twisted kind of romance, yet one can not help but feel sad and sorry for all of them. Great acting, but that's to be expected from that wonderful cast.

What a fine symphony to love and betrayal and loss. Great performances. As fine in it's depiction of love as the Song of Roland: Now that I've exaggerated myself out of credibility I will give it 5/5 and retire.... Thanks for the link, guys!- From Bron to Bettany, the best acting I've seen in a long time. As replete with 'tragedy' as anything by Shakespeare.
